The Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revo is also now available in a 265/70-17 load range E. It usually gets good reviews on the tire sites like 1010 or Tirerack, but there are complaints about short tire life or not being the best tire around. There are at two winter tires in the same size and load range, the Cooper Discoverer M+S and the Nokian Hakka LT. The Nokian seems to consistently get reviews as the best winter tire available.

Pro Comp now has the All Terrain 265/70R/17 E rated. I have them on my truck and got them from National Tire And Wheel last October when Pro Comp had the buy three get one free deal. They have only been on for three months so I can't say about mileage but Pro Comp ATs do have a 50K mile wear warranty. They ride great and make no noise at all.

FYI... the local BFG dealer told me not to get the TA's. He said the people he sold them to where not happy with them and that they do not wear well.

Sorry it took me a couple of days to get back to you...as I am out of town.
I notice no difference in noise level between the stock Rugged Trails and the new BFG TA's in 285. They seem to be wearing great, but then again I don't really have very many miles on them. Maybe 5000.
I would say the ride improved somewhat. I didn't mind the Rugged Trails, but you just can't them in a 285 for our trucks. I also like the more aggressive tread on the TA's.
I read this board a lot....and based on my experiences with owners of BFG TA's I can't recall anybody saying they DON'T like them. I feel confident recommending them to anybody.

I can not find many options for this size in an E rating.
I run mostly highway and only tow up to 5000 lbs. in the summer (21' boat). Since I live in the Northeast I need tire that goes very good in the snow. I do not take the truck off road.
I am looking advise on E rated tires available in this size and if I should consider going to a C or D rated tire.
Thanks for any help.

I've had the BFG 285\70\17 ko TA's on for over two years. I was hoping/expecting to get around 35,000 when I put them on, and thought anything close to 40,000 would be a bonus. I'm currently at 33,000 and they are looking like they will need to be replaced by Spring. So, I think I'm right where I thought I'd be.
Kinda depends on what your expectations on tire wear is. For myself, I'd rather get better traction with something like the BFG than a 80,000 mile tire that slides around in the rain, and is worthless in the snow.
So, I'll be looking again soon, and would not mind getting the BFGs again, they are great winter tires. But, like's been said, they do grab the rocks. I kinda wonder about the ProComps and stuff like that. I don't hear much from anyone who tows once in awhile or anything using these types of tires. It seems like it always from someone who just put them on. Their load rating is low and this always bothered me. The Toyo looks like the best tire to try,but I have a feeling they are not as good in the snow as the BFGs.

I got good and stuck today with my stock baloney skin Michelins- no good for mud. Granted we did experience extreme flooding over the entire region but decided I must get a more aggressive tire. I have 20,000 miles on them and will be lucky to get another 10,000.
What size tire can fit on the stock forged aluminum rims?

I just purchased an '06 Dodge 3500 as well and am faced with this same question, except i want 285's. I just got rid of my POS '03 Ford and i had 285's on it but they were 16" BFG a/t's and loved them. I was thinking of putting them on my new dodge too, until i heard how much they were. I was quoted a price of around $225 each. The guys at the tire shop said that they have had really good luck with Toyo a/ts and Nokian (spelling?). The toyos are alot cheaper and he said that's what he has on his duramax and loves them. I myself would probably go with the BFG's if they weren't so **** expensive, but i may end up trying the toyos?? Like the looks of the BFG's (come standard on Power Wagon), but they do throw alot of rocks, like others have posted.

I looked at some Goodyear Wrangler MT/R 285/70 R17
at a tire store. Looked like a good alternative to the BFGs (AT K0) that I currently have. Anyone have some experience to share on these?
They are rated at 3305 lbs and D rated. I think my KOs are 3195 lbs. The tread looks more open than the BFG, and if sipped they look like they would be good winter tires. The open tread looks better off road than the BFGs also.
I checked the Toyo web page, and it looks like the 285s (or 33s) are not out yet, only 265.
