Little plastic pipe sticking out of firewall.

Hello from a new Dodge diesel owner. Never had one before, mostly lots of modified jeeps; however, I really dig my 04.5 RAM 2500 5.9L TD and am curious to learn more about diesels and how they run.

Quick question, I have the in-cab oil fumes option on my truck and will extend the blow by tube like others have suggested, added Mopar lemon crankcase scent (useless). I did notice halfway down on the passenger side firewall that there is a black plastic tube (1/2" I.D.) sticking out about 2 inches that seems to have slight water dripping from it. Can someone tell me what this tube is for and could engine fumes be coming in through it into my cab vents? Thanks a bunch.

Air conditioner condensation drain tube. If that plugs up you will get water on the passenger floor.

Slight? On a hot day, when I have had the AC on, this thing gushes like someone opened the Hoover dam!

First time I ever had the AC, parked the truck, and got out, I almost pooped myself when I saw the puddle of liquid under the truck - thought it was coolant or oil. After I saw it was water, opened the hood, and saw it coming from the AC condenser tube.

My CTD600 does the same thing, when I have the AC full blast.. it pisses all over the ground.. worried me at first..

Hmmm maybe this is where the fumes are pulling into the cab.

I might put a '90' on that with a piece of hose dropping down closer to the street and see if that helps.

Scotty, you and I are on the same page. Already bought the 90 and tubing for it, but just wanted to make sure that I wasn't going to screw anything important up. Thanks everyone for the info.

thanks for the post it made me think more on this...I will let you know how it works here.
Make sure you let folks know.
Theres been a few other efforts to resolve this...one was sealing the cowl and the other was running a hose for the crank case breather to the back fo the truck...none of those worked for me.

Same here, sealing the cowl and extended the blow by tube past the rear differential did nothing to cure the smell in the cab when at a stop light,

Finally after 17,000 mile the smell is gone...don't know why, maybe something to do with the engine breaking in.

The level of smell dropped a lot in my truck until my first oil change. Then it was back, but fading away again. I don't know if it was just the mechanic dripping something under the hood that had to burn off or what.
