leather cleaner and conditioner or water

I think our manual says no leather cleaner or conditioners, just clean with a damp cloth. I, like many others plan to keep this truck along time. I have seen older cars with cracked seats.
Leather guys, do you think ours will last by just keeping it clean?
I have a pair of all weather boots that I just clean and brush. They are impregnated with oils and the brushing brings it out, maybe our seats are similar, they cost enough for that little bit of leather.

I'm wondering about this also. Has DC done something special to the leather? My first experience with leather in a vehicle was that accumulated exposure to summer heat appeared to lead to premature cracking/drying-out. Subsequently I've always used leather conditioner as a preventative measure. The DC manual clearly says don't use leather conditioner. Why has DC made it a point to stress this?

I have used leather conditioner twice so far. I guess I didn't read the manual close enough.

I'm with Jonesboro, That sun and heat has got to be tough, so why say, don't use conditioners. I was using them in my wifes car, now I need to read her manual, has leather processing changed?

My wife used to have a truck with leather everything. I used a spray called "Leather New". Never got sticky or discolored. Still use it on my saddles and other horse stuff. If I had leather in my truck, I'd still use it.

Because they want to sell you a new truck when you're seats are all cracked up from not taking care of them!

I'll bet dollars to doughnuts that it has nothing to do with leather protection and everything to do with liablility issues such as slipperyness or discoloration issues.

I use Meguiar's Gold Class leather cleaner/conditioner on my seats. Smells good and seems to fo a fine job cleaning them up.

I am really throwing caution to the wind now. I just slathered on a whole bunch more of the leather protectant on my seats.
