lamp out message
I changed my headlight and foglight bulbs and now I have been getting a LAMP OUT message displayed. I have checked every light that I know of on the truck and can not find anything burned out. Anyone have a clue?

License plate lamp, 3rd Brake lamp or check your brake lamps themselves not if they light up but if they look okay, they may be getting intermittent contact due to a melted base.

Were you getting the lamp out before or after you changed the bulbs? If after, follow what steelblitzkrieg said, if it was before, replace the bulbs one at a time with the originals until the lamp out goes out, and then you have a starting point to examine wiring or bulb.

Yeah I had that problem, except my lamp was coming on and off. So I finally caught it when it was on. Stopped the truck and found in my case it was a rear brake light. So I checked the bulb and it looked good, until I looked at the connection point, there are 2 fine wires and one of the wires were kind of melted into the plastic so it would only make a connection sometimes. Frustrating...

I think you're right Rob, but I'd hate to find out...oops forgot to tell you guys I put in HID lights.
The HID lamps cause the Lampout to flash because of the lower resistance if you were unaware.

So the same thing happened to me this morning on the way to work. Once I got to work all the lights were on and fine, and mo more lamp out message.
On my way home, I get the same message and ding ding ding, but my lights are not even on.
What is the board you're talking about? Is it in the lamp assembly?

Guys,
Thanks for all the help. No I did not install the hid lights, they are some high wattage bulbs from JC Whitney 130/80 watts and 50 watt back up bulbs. I have checked all lights I can find and all work or at least when I checked them. I can finally see at night now. lamp out is still on.

A couple of days ago I removed the passenger side rear lamp assembly. I quickly noticed that there was more to it than just a couple of lamps, and since I didn't have any replacements I just put it back on the truck without any further investigation.
Guess what - no more lamp out warning light. At least for now, it just needed to be knocked around a bit.
