JUST GOT HOME! DROVE 1900 MILES ON MY BRAND NEW CTD!
So Saturday morning I hopped on a plane at 6am here in NYC... got to Dallas around 9:30am their time and barely made my plane to Austin (had to knock on the plane door to get them to re-open it for me!) but made it in at 10:30am. LaGrange dodge picked me up from the airport, we went back and did all the dirty work. Ended up being 31K exactly, after taxes and tags and gap insurance (about 29K before). Shortly afterwards, I was on my way! The route took me from Texas to Louisiana to Mississippi to Alabama to Tennesse to West Virginia to Virginia to Maryland to Pennsylvania and then back to NJ just about 2000 miles including rest stops and a few side adventures.

I started off around lunch time and stopped at midnight and ended up sleeping in the back seat of my quad cab in a nice dark rest area somewhere in Louisiana I think. I tried to vary my RPMs as much as possible but I could not help reving up to about 2400RPM (75MPH). Sunday took me from 4AM Sunday morning all the way to 2AM Monday morning! Lots of coffee and rest stops though.

I averaged 18.5 MPG with the A/C on the entire time and I was not slowing down for any of those mountains!

Overall the truck is amazing! SO MUCH POWER! The trailer tow mirrors are so great, there's literally no blind spot. The cup holders actually work pretty well. 2 useful cigarette lighter plugs. The bed is huge. Not that I will need it anytime soon but where is the plug for my block heater? Plenty of room in the back and front. Comfortable seats (although my *** hurts a little after 2000 miles in 2 days). The only two complaints I have are... I think I need a 3.55 rear end for lots of unloaded highway usage and I would like to see a high idle function so I don't have to worry about messing up the motor when I'm idling for long periods. I.e. a button that'll jump the idle up to 1200 RPM or so. Is there something in the PCM to provision this? I know my other Chrysler (Jeep Cherokee 4.0 motor) has a provision for this as part of the police package. I would THINK that the Dodge computer would have a provision for this as part of like... a tow package?

http://p90.cdevco.net:31337/ram

It's my pot and I'll stir it if I want to. If you're not careful, I'll stir your's as well!

Hey njoverkill, congrats on your new truck. Sounds like you did almost the same thing I did except I headed south. Drove all night and slept in the back seat around 4 am for a short while. Was awake for around 24 hours before I pulled over and slept. I flew into Houston and they picked me up.
Just out of curiosity, how did you hear about LaGrange? Was it because of what I had posted after I got my truck?
Was back to LaGrange for my first service. Long way to drive for a service but I had to go to San Antonio anyway.

YES! You actually PM'd me and after looking at like 20 local and otherwise closer dealers, I ended up going to La Grange.

They had the truck I wanted (with a few more options than I wanted but they turned out to be options I WANTED after I realized -- trailer tow mirrors and premium cloth!) They were pretty easy to deal with. It was straight up $invoice minus $rebates minus a little more from some no big deal hassles I put up with and we took it from there. I'm doing 3.99 for 60 months with 0 down. I heard I could get as cheap as like 3.45% but I'm not sure I personally would've been able to with my job (don't make much).

Anyway! That's awesome you drove so far too. We talked about you and the guy (don't remember his name) remembered you coming up from Mexico.

Glad things worked out so well for you. Same for me, I ended up with more options than I originally wanted but am not complaining. There was just one option I wanted they could not get as it was special order, side air bags.
Still think they are the best dealer I have ever dealt with.
Enjoy your new toy.

Not sure you are going to find a block heater on a Texas truck but you never know. I bought mine in New York and drove it to Dallas!!! Best road trip of my life. Some bigger tires will help with the RPM's -although I'm not sure you have enough clearance on a 2wd. With BFG 315's I turn the same RPM's as I would with stock tires and 3.73. Enjoy!!

Nice trip, hope you like it. I just got back from S.C. to Oregon on Sunday pulling a TT. Those CTD just love the workout. By the way if I remember correctly all of the CTD come with the heater plug as was stated, passenger side of radiator in a plastic clip.
