Just did ball joints
Wow, what an experience- is all I can say !!!! A very good experience thanks to the help of Larry Niemeyer, who is a fellow gearhead and member here and Mr. Gadgets' pictured instructions. We replaced both sides upper and lower joints. I used the Carli extreme joints for the uppers and Moog greaseable joints on the lower. If anybody on here is planning on doing this job yourselves, I hope you have patience !!!! Also, if your hub bearings have never been replaced, you're going to need to use Mr. Gadgets' detailed instructions on how to press out the bearing without damage. My hub bearings had been replaced right at 3 yrs ago and basically just fell out. The dealership that had replaced the bearings on my rig slathered on anti-seize on the mating surfaces of the bearings. I didn't need to replace the axle u-joints as they were in really good shape, if it ain't broke, don't fix it!!! So, now that I have replaced my ball joints I went today and had 7 new Nitto Drua Grapplers in 235 80 17 installed and had the front end aligned, and she drives better than a new rig. That's my experience

Thanks again Larry!!

Congratulations!! The best part of the experience is less drain on the wallet and self satisfaction. I second the patience. I just did mine using Mr Gadgets writeup and pictures. It took me about 16 hours to do mine. Cleaned all contact surfaces and used lots of anti seize.

Chip,
Glad you got your new tires today and hopefully they will wear better than your last set since we replaced those ball joints. Since one had about a half inch of play I would say they will. See you Monday!!
Hopefully I'll find some good help when its time to do mine, it would be a real chore to do it alone.
Larry.

I spoke to Dynatrac yesterday about their hub kits and they mentioned that they are building a front ball joint for our Dodges that is greesable and re-buildable without pressing them out. If you have to change your ball joints more often than you change your underware this might be for you.
