Jake Brake switch rattles like a ...

I paid big bucks to get a Jake Brake on my 07 and the darn switch rattles like a cheap toy. Mostly does it when the truck lugs the least bit like accelerating in 5th gear or towing, especially when towing. Has anyone else experienced this???

Yes. I believe everyone has. I put 4 tiny rubber O rings in between the case on the screws and that solved it. The switch is a little loose now but no rattles.......

Haven't noticed the rattle but my switch likes to spin around the stalk.

Yeah, mine rattles, too. Tweeking the wires/zip tie seems to make it go away temporarily.

I noticed mine rattling this last weekend towing the camper. It was rattling. I kept a little pressure on the **** to prevent it. I will be putting the gear vendors **** on it tonite so maybe I will do something about it.

Yeah mine rattles too (6 speed). I had the dealer change out the switch and the 2nd one rattled worse. The price for the warranted brake is high and the switch should not rattle. This is not just a small noise but a major irritant.

I ended up stuffing a black washcloth between the switch and gear shift lever and it got rid of most of it - but what a pita.

Taking it in to the dealer this weekend for some free service and will try to get them to replace it again.

Texasredrider – where did you get the o-rings for the screws?

Put a black hair band around it. Mine has been like that from day one. Rattle will drive you nuts.

Mine's not making a sound and is staying in place BUT I am sure that with some more time it will be so next time I'm at Wally World I better pick up a pack of ponytail rings. I'm gonna have to watch which checker I get though!

Good luck with that, the Gear Vendors **** rattles too! The hair tie is the best fix.

Just got a message from Jacobs. They acknowledge that they have a prob with switches on manual transnissions. They are working with Cummins and Mopar to come up with a fix. They said they have kept a file on my incident and will be in touch when they come up with something. In the meantime, I have had the switch changed under warranty and so far no rattle.
