Insurance Premium Question...
For those of you that previously owned a 3rd GEN and either have taken delivery of or have on order a 6.7L 350/650, what insurance premium increases, if any, did you experience ? List what you had and what you now have.
I recently sold my 2003 Dodge RAM 2500 4x4 SWB SLT Crew Cab Sport w/305*555 and NV5600. My semi-annual premium was $583.83.
I have on order a 2007.5 Dodge RAM 3500 4x4 MegaCab Laramie SRW w/350*650 and 6-speed auto. My semi-annual premium will be $678.76.....a whopping $94.93 increase/6 months. Any true possibility that insurance may be a tad cheaper on a 3500 vs a 2500 ?
I'm 42 with a great driving record.....I'm with State Farm also.

i believe you are right in you assumption-when comparing the 2500 and 3500 trucks. insurance companies also look at the gvwr.etc when determining rates. i pay around 900.00 bucks a year for my 04.5 2500 quad cab 4x4.

I pay around 700 a yr, but that is with my homeowners and multicar discount.... But to answer your question, it shouldn't increase anymore than what the value of the truck increases in any normal yr.

lrdchaos-where i live insurance companies look at more than the value of the vehicle. they look at theft rates, where you live, how far you drive to work. they also take at the gvwr of that vehicle. a 3/4 or 1 ton will have alittle bit higher rate than a half ton pick up because that 3/4 and 1 ton truck can carry more weight in the bed of the truck and because it can trailer more weight behind it.. so if you bought a brand new duallie diesel 4x4 pick up, your insurance rate would be higher over that brand new half ton gas truck-and that higher amount would have more factored into that just the higher price of the duallie truck

everytime I trade my insurance always jumps and usually stays the same until I trade again. You think as the value of your new truck goes down so would your premium (Ya Right) Mine is at $480 a year

My small town state farm agent's first statement when figuring up what to charge for my new truck was "It's got a Hemi, right? I said "no it's a six cylinder". I saved probably 20%. Big smile on the way out.......
