Infinity radio issue
I'm having a issue with the radio, losing the audio but still have power to the radio. Only way to get the audio back is to turn the ignition off and wait for about a minute before turning the ignition back on.
So I'm thinking about getting the Metra amp bypass kit to eliminate the amp and wonder if the radio output is speaker compatible or line level.
Or should I ditch the factory system and get the amp bypass with a aftermarket radio?

I can't help other than to suggest that maybe the amp is getting hot and shutting itself down. Surely someone here has stereo knowledge for this DTR vet!?!?!?!

Hey Mike,
That's what I'm thinking. But don't have a good way to trouble shoot other than bypassing the amp.
It's probably a whole lot cheaper to go aftermarket than buying a replacement from Dodge!!

2 questions:
1) Is this happening only on AM/FM?
2) Or does this happen while listening to Sat/CD/Cass/8-Track?
If only 1 then --------- pull out radio and make certain that your antenna is securely inserted in to the slot (This happened to me)
If 2 then ------------ and you can fix by turning key off/on, then Your amp has an issue and is going into "default" or protect mode. This could by a number of reasons, but over-heating is the most likely culprit!
Have you changed out any speakers to anything other than factory?

Mike,
It does it in all modes, AM/FM and CD. So I ruled out the antenna connection.
So that leaves me with the radio's audio output or the amp itself.
Everything is stock.
