Increasing Insurance

Did your insurance go up lately? I got my bill today and mine went up 294.00 per year. Country Companies, my carrier, said the price index of 06 Dodge pick ups went from an 18 to a 22, and that was the cause of the raise. Nationwide surveys found your vehicle to be responsible for a major amount of claims across the US and the increase in insurance rates reflect the results of this survey. BULL! Im looking at other insurers tomorro, if they tell me the same , I will just sell my piece of crap! I tired of the crappy mileage(12.3,12.4,14.3 the last three tanks). Im starting to hate my truck.

Could be two things that have caused the increase - Theft and Fuel Contamination Claims. Both of those have been extremely high problems over the past year.

My insurance rates wend down this year, just over $600/year now for my 2006 truck. Of course that's with a multi-car policy, no tickets, no claims, low annual mileage/use, and my age group-oldie but goodie.

UP $294 per year is what he said, that's on top of what? Sounds way off to me and I would be looking for another insurance carrier. Just because claims on the overall model have risen does not seem to me to be a fair way to judge you as an individual. Like I said before, those rates rose because of THEFT and fuel contamination claims. I got good-sized discounts for the addition of the Mopar Security Module and the Ravelco, in fact my agent made it a point to let me know those things would change my rates considerably. Also, my agent has discussed the fuel contamination issues with me, made that a point too. She also discussed things like lift kits and how they would raise my rates. My agent always calls and asks about any NEW aftermarket stuff - stereo equipment, bumpers/grille guards, tool box, anything that would increase the value so my policy covers this stuff. Of course I DO know that these additions WILL raise my rates, I also carry replacement value insurance and a low deductable, so this makes insurance costs a little higher.

I think that sometime last fall/early this spring, people were complaining about insurance rates and our 2006 trucks on all the different forums. Usually it takes about a year of a model being out to establish that number used for rates, so not untimely to the process.

He did say $294 a year, right? Haha. Must be nice guys. I was paying $292 a month for my 06' That is only because I am in the prime age group for insurace companies, being under 25. I also had a point on my record for recieving a ticket, 39 in a 35. However is has since just dropped to $213 a month, but I am moving back home, and will be changing companies again.
Oh by the way, this is multi car coverage. my 06, and my 68 GTO*

My Dodge is the highest on insurance in my fleet of cars. Jeep is the cheapest by far, almost half. Jeep is newer, higher sticker price, also diesel. My 06 Dura was also cheaper on insurance, couple a hundred a year, and a higher sticker price too. Dodge trucks are just plain high on insurance.

One little fender bender on a dodge diesel will send the bumper into the ac, intercooler and radiator. That's alot of dough right there.

A discussion about insurance rates on a nationwide board is a waste of time. Rates vary widely from one local to another, even for the same driver's age, driving record, etc. Being an "Old" guy, I'm an AARP member and insure everthing I can, except the Harleys thru them. They are so cheap that when the insurance telemarketers call, I tell 'em I have AARP Hartford, they say "thank you" and hang up. I use GEICO for the Harleys.
