Hey BMH.....You copycatted my idea about the single Cummins "C" emblem on the tailgate!!!! Actually, I got the idea from RJohnson as he has one on his 2nd gen. You have a sharp looking truck!!

Removing the badging
How hard was it to get the badging off the tailgate and fenders? What did you use? I am thinking of doing the same to my black 05. I like the color of your truck.

I debadged the whole thing using a plastic scraper (gently) to pry the emblems off.........and WD40 and alot of elbow grease to get the residue off.
But, I hear you can buy a product called "eraser wheel" and use a drill or something to get it off alot easier. Some guys use fishing line to cut the emblems off. I have heard heating them up with a blow dryer will also help.

Darn, I was hoping you weren't on this board too. At least we are in different parts of the country. Maybe I can work up a sticker that says it's a TexasCTD knockoff?

I was unsure about it right after I got done cleaning it up, but now it has really grown on me. The blue really looks sharp when it's all cleaned up. I used a scotch brite eraser wheel (Lee Auto Parts special ordered it for me). It's the same as the 3M Stripe Off wheel. You just used 20lb braided fishing line and saw off the emblems. Next, you hook the wheel up to your drill (low speed is better) and rip the adhesive off. Follow up with some wax to take the shadow out, and away you go.

There should be a way to remove your own post to threads just in case you embarrass yourself. A "delete" button if you will. Or maybe it is out there just like the direct link to my own photo gallery that I still haven't found yet!

HA! I knew I'd get acused of that! See now, to make mine different, I used an '06 emblem, which has black lettering and is a bit larger. Mhm, that's how I make myself feel better about ripping off someone else's idea.

Well like I said...it wasn't MY original idea anyway...LOL
My truck is still a work in progress. I am considering going to 2nd gen badging on it to do something else different still. As long as you DON't COPY that idea too, you are ok in my book.
'NRiver' and 'Rambunctious1' copycatted my Black Powdercoated wheel idea......course I got it from members 'Cquestad' and 'tomeygun'. It is all part of the fun to see an idea come to life (your baby) and start growing.
