Hey non truck related topic
I am thinking of relocating my family, wife & 3 daughters aged 12- 18 to Idaho Falls area
Any of you guys from up there?
Currently living in Colo Springs Co. It has gotten way to zooy along the front range here. LA at 7000'
What are the winters like? I sent 5 winters in Laramie Wyo. Cold is OK as long as there is outdoor recreation.
Housing market up/ down?
Hear hunting and fishing is great ??
We are non LDS will that be a factor

BTW the people that I know in Idaho are also complaining about the Kalifornication of their state. It may not be the escape you hope it to be. As far as I can tell, the best place to go to get away from Californians is California. Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Nevada, Utah and Colorado are plumb full of them.

Think you hit a nerve there !!
As a non LDS living in Salt Lake I believe that your question is a valid one. Small town less of an option to find a niche. Couple of extended visits might be a good plan

Hey guzzirider-
You might find the below link interesting. It's not Idaho Falls, but it's close. Why Idaho Falls? Is there work there for your specialty?

Sorry to hit the hornets nest with a broom
Idaho Falls because of a Job at same pay as Colo. But it looks like slightly lower cost of living. Much better recreation options.. I am tired of comuttting 2hrs a day.
No I am not LDs but at the same time I would not encourage my daughters to marry into it. Limited options for females.
As an ex catholic I wouldn't want that either
Live in Central Ca loved it but to expensive, to regulated
thanks for the input
Extendeed visits not an option that's why the question
Any emissions testing??
Live in Wyo for 6 years would move back in a heart beat. but I need income

I myself have a problem with LDS as well. Having lived both in Salt Lake and Boise, and coming from a family with a lot of LDS members, I just can't get over some of the accepted practices. For example, open and blatant discrimination (well known fact) in relation to hiring non LDS people. This church is LONG over due for a law suit.

Don't heap us into one pot. There are a lot of us that agree with you, but I still live my religion. I am LDS, yet find some of the things many of you reference.
It reminds me of a story.
A man moves into a new neighborhood and sees and old man sitting alone on the bench. He sits by him and asks what kind of town he lives in.
The old man ponder for a second and said, "what type of town do you come from?"
The man said, it is a great town, wonderful people, friendly, honest, caring. I loved my old town, it was great and I was really sad to move.
The old man looked him in his eye and said, "that's the kind of town we have here!"
Another man comes along later in the day and sits by the old man. The person asks the man what kind of town he lives in.
The old man turned to him and asked "what kind of town did you come from?"
The man started to cuss and swear about how people were selfish and never started up a conversation and they kept to themselves, never shared anything, never invited us to a picnic or barbeque. It was an awful town, I was so glad to move away from there.
The old man looked at him and said, "that's the kind of town this is."
It is only your perspective. You reap what you sow. If you don't put out your hand, don't expect anything in return. It isn't a one way street wherever you want to live.
I had some property in a small town, Menan, just north of Idaho Falls. It was quiet, friendly, only my business is here in Salt Lake. So I sold it, big mistake.
Just watch out for the "being from out of town" leaches you may collect. They'll find you. There is a lot to do and see up there. Fishing is really good on the Snake river or go up to Henry's Lake. Yellowstone is a couple hours drive, Jackson. You'll love it there.
Good luck in your travels. We (LDS) don't bite, and we're not going to convert or condemn. It's your life, not mine.
I have heard about the one sided dealings about only hiring LDS. Sorry it happened, but is also happens the other way around also.
I also heard another funny story.
A group dies in an plane crash and go to the pearly gates where Peter was standing. With a smile on his face he say's welcome to heaven. Leave all your cares and worries behind. Hop into my Golden Cadilac and I'll take you for a tour of heaven and then you can select which palace you want to abide in while your here.
Everyone piles into the Caddy and off they go. Gold everywhere, when they pulled up to a large bricked area. Peter stopped the car and turned around and said "Shhhh!, don't say a word." Any he speeds off showing more of the sites of heaven.
They come up to another bricked community and Peter turns to the group and says, you need to be quiet again. Then speeds off to another section of heaven.
This peaks the interest of a couple people and have to ask, "Peter, why do we have to be quiet around those bricked communities?"
Peter turns and says, " Those are the Mormons and they think they're the only ones in heaven!"
We're not all rotten apples.

And oh...The California plague has also been spotted in Oregon and Washington.

True enough Scopedoctor. It wouldn't be fair to assume all people in any religion are all the same. There are good people everywhere. I just thought for a potential employer to ask a applicant what ward they belong to during a interview process (repeatedly at different establishments throughout Salt Lake City) was unreal...and grounds for civil action should a person feel so inclined....although finding a judge or impartial venue for the trial would be impossible within SLC.
Although it sounds like you would not approve of such behavior and this is most refreshing. Sadly though, a great many of your peers do not share your view. Perhaps that is the way it is with anything. I myself expect some form of uniformity within religion. After all, these people all follow the same teachings, of which they live by. Perhaps it is just the interpetation of those teachings that is the problem.
