I need a sound file of straight piped 3rd Gen

Anyone have a sound file of a straight piped 3rd Gen Cummins?

Looking at buying a new truck and I love the looks of the 3rd Gens, but it just seems like it'd be too quiet for my tastes.

strate pipe is too loud IMHO.

you need to bend the pipe to get it to fit.

i had a ghetto fabulous meineke weld in a peice of 4 inch from Jegs' in, ($25?) and they got the tip up under the bed, resonates real bad.

gimme call, let you hear it on the phone

My 03 was straight piped and I loved it!!!

It was louder in the cab than stock but not that bad. Outside the truck was a different story. Your next-door neighbors will love you . I don’t have a sound file for you but I wish I did. I just ordered the MEP from Geno’s. I haven’t had time to put it on yet but I can’t wait to get it on.
I have heard some people on this forum say that it sounds like a ricer but I didn’t think so. It sounded like a big rig to me.
One item of note: do not do this modification if you don’t like attention. You will get plenty of it!

The Genos straight pipe does fit nice. At cruising speeds it is barely louder than stock. There is some drone at 55 and 75 on my truck but the speeds may change once i put bigger tires on it. At 65 and 85 it is very quiet in the truck. On accell it is very very loud. Definatley loud enough for the wife to complain. I try and creep out of my neighborhood, but it's fun blasting people on the road.

i have the 04.5 with the cat. on it and I took the muffle off and put a peice of 4in pipe in replace of that and left the cat and it sounds great. Not to loud and not to quiet. So if you don't want to go extreme you can do this too.

That is great news to hear. I want to leave my cat on and just take off the muffler. I guess geno's is the best place to get one?

i would highly recommed them. shipping was very fast. couple of days at most. $100 is pretty high but it is better than trying to find someone to bend it for you.

if ya live in a state with a tough inspection law and visual check for a muff there are straight through" mufflers out there to considder also, they look like a muff but when ya checkk the inside they are nothing but a chamber built around a straight through pipe no louvers or anything of the kind. will look for link if I find it I'll add it.

nobody has mentioned any kind of performance increase... Seems like a straight pipe SHOULD give a pretty noticeable improvement! Especially with the claims of the aftermarket mufflers being as high as they are.

i didn't notice any performance increase other than the noise i figure it will lower EGT's but as far as any increase in power i didn't notice any.

How does a 2005 sound straight piped/stacked compared to a 2003?

The 2005s are extremely quiet. If I remember correctly the 2003s are the loudest of the 3rd Gen trucks.

I have my heart set on finding a 2003 (missed the perfect one by 30 minutes yesterday ), but they are a little tough to find. If I go with a 2005 at least I wouldn't have to worry about it being sold before I got there...

I have mine straight pipped... Just had a 4" S Bend pipe welded up. The bend was just right for all the bends in the pipe. On my truck, it goes into the CAT and straight back, then it dips down and into the muffler and the offset from it to a straight pipe on back. I had it cut just before the down bend out of the CAT and it fits like a glove. As for how it sounds... check out these clips:
