I need help with picking new radio for my 06'

I've had it with my 06's stock radio. I'm sick of the static the AM never working and the pour sound. What do you guys suggest has a good replacement that will fit in the dash and not have to do a bunch of work installing it and something that fits the existing dash cut outs for the volume and channel *****.
Thanks for any help.

just buy a Navi dash from ebay, and put in a regular size radio.

most folks have a AVIC D3 - cheap DVD & navi unit.

one of my 06's came with sirus, i have a zune with over 1,000 songs loaded on it i made a portable mount for it and move it between trucks it plugs into the jack on the front of the radio. you can buy a xm unit and plug it into this same jack. either one no commercials and only static free music you like

i got mine from crutchfield, and they supplied everything

you will need a $$$ adapter plug, the CANBUS signal is the only way to get the dimmer to work, and to get VSS (vehicle speed sense) if you get a GPS.

crutchfield provided everything except the Navi Dash.

edit:
yes, we jacked my wife's MP3 into our deck for a while, it was fine.

From reading reviews on crutchfield etc, not to many people like Pioneers navigation at all. Kenwood would be my choice, because their navi is made by Garmin

I have the AVIC-Z1 and I love it. It all comes down to personal choice. All of the major brands are good. None of them are perfect or everyone would buy the same thing. Do your research and pick the one YOU like best.

I have a Pioneer AVIC Z2 upgraded to a Z3 HDD and so far it has been a nice unit, I picked it up cheap off ebay.

I also like the Kenwood DNX8100.

i have to disagree, i have had all three top brands, alpine, pioneer and the kenwood. i'm a cheep a$$ and didn't want to spend the money on the kenwood so i went with the pioneer and that my friends was the worst choice ever..... so i exchanged it for the alpine. better but still hated the hoops you had to jump through to watch dvds while moving. so i exchanged it for the more expensive kenwood DNX710EX.

by far the best deck out(except for the brand new version)

watch dvds while moving by grounding only one wire, alpn needs a switch sequence to work, pioneer requires soldering...nuff said

nav system is built in, alpn extra unit at the tune of 400 bucks, pioneer requires a dvd rom to be in the deck, so no watching movies and using the nav at the same time or listening to a cd.

with the kenwd i can be watching a dvd, getting turn by turn directions, my daughter can watch her own movie(diff screen) in the back and hear only her movie through her speakers while we hear only our movie throught the front speakers, receive a call(automatically pauses movie and switches the screen) all of that at the same time. no other unit can do that.

oh and it tracks your milage, avg spd, saves favorite spots on your navi, gives arrival times accurate to within two mins, 5 diff trip meters, usb port, oh and my daughter watches her movies from the video ipod that is in the glove box. it has a 8 position tilt screen and its the big touch screen. completely update-able.

its just a far better unit than any other.....

Kenwood is by far the best Nav unit and Garmin makes the gps unit. The Kenwood backup camera is ultra wide and sharp.

If my Kenwood died today I would buy another Kenwood tomorrow.

the Avic D3 is NOT perfect.

but at the PRICE it is awesome

it does NOT navigate worth a crap around town.

i usually do a GOOGLE map before i go on a major road trip,
and the D3 matches it on road trips.

for the PRICE a D3 can't be beat.
it is a Jack of all trades, and does none of them PERFECT.
it was made to play an IPOD is what I gather from the AVIC forum.

but it does do everything you need it to.

oh ya forgot about my backup cam, i use it on a daily basis. i drilled a hole right in the middle of my license plate to mount it, that way when i back up to trailers i can align it up perfectly every time.

hands down worth every penny.

the way i looked at it was why spend 1000 dollars on somethin i hate rather than spend 1500 on somethin i love...........
