Hummer truck, 5 foot bed......... LOL

At next week's Chicago Auto Show, General Motors' Hummer division will unveil the brand's first real pickup truck.
Unlike the Hummer H2 SUT, a full-sized SUV with a small bed that's expandable by opening the vehicle's back wall, the new Hummer H3T is a full-time truck with a permanent 5-foot bed.

Based on the Hummer H3, Hummer's smaller SUV, the H3T is larger than a mid-size truck but smaller than a full-size truck, GM says. The H3T's wheelbase is 22 inches longer than the H3.

I just noticed it has a door on the side to access the "bed."

Those tire do look interesting but would wear you out on the highway. Little chance that the average H3T owner would ever get it dirty so no need for those treads.

I agree - the tires are the best looking part of the truck!

What's up with the two suicide doors on the bed? Hopefully they're for storage compartments?

Why would anyone want a regular cab? Is this 1975?

Nope, they've decided on a crew cab model. The H3T will offer front and rear lockers, additional ground clearance, hill-hold assist... stuff I wish my
H3 had. They start production in September.

They really are pushing those hummers eh? I'd rather have a jeep, at least engineers think them out.

I think the General is going to be putting some money into the Hummer brand for a while longer to see if they can build a strong enough business case to keep the brand in lieu of the new 2020 CAFE MPG standards. The "shrinking of all things Hummer" will probably a good thing, plus it'll help fill out their lineup ... they need a real Jeep competitor.

Sounds like this would be a good platform for baby diesel from VM Motori, since GM just bought a 50% (I think) stake in the company.
