Well, the time is quickly approaching. I am going to order or purchase my truck in 5 weeks (5 thousand miles). 80,000 miles has bee settled as the time to get rid of my current truck.<br><br>So, with over 75k on the odometer and me putting 1k plus a week on right now I will be in a new truck soon. So, I have to get my antenna stuff ordered and in here ASAP. <br><br>From ground to top of roof, how tall?<br><br>Anyone mount more than one radio in the cab? Is there room? I have a 2m/70cm dual band Kenwood and will be upgrading my ticket to general before too long and an HF rig will be ordered and placed in there along with a company radio. Maybe a CB but my ham radio club would probably disown me. But someone has to tell me where the cops hide on I-40! <br><br>Oh yeah, I have to get an auto (unforutanely but my job requires one but I don't tow a lot). Can't help you with the height, have a 3500, so might be a tad different.<br><br>But, good luck mounting radios or anything in the cab. Dash room is total limited.<br><br>I had to buy a Cobra CB with all the stuff in the microphone head, and they hid the little box under the shifter console.<br><br>Even tough to find spot for trailer brake controller unless you wanna put things where your knees and legs are gonna eat them in a crash<br><br>Hunter

I have since added a Kenwood TM-733A dual bander to the left of the Syntor X-9000 in the picture. All works well and all antennas are roof drilled with the standard NMO mounts. <br><br>The bad thing about my install is that I had to reinforce the cupholder to keep it from falling. This makes it completely unusable, but that's ok with me.

That sucks. I have not actually looked at the new dodges yet inside very closely. I was all set to get an 02 then decided to wait it out and get more miles on my current truck (qc dakota 4x4).<br><br>It has limited room, now you say the 2500's have limited room! This sucks! I thought I would get more room in the ram line. I have my 2m mounted over my right knee right now. DOH!<br><br>Anyone have some interior photo's I could view? <br><br>Thanks,<br><br>Eric

Thanks Jack! That is what I was looking for. You were actually one of the first people I asked about becoming a ham way back when this site as way fewer members. <br><br>Man, there is ample room in that truck. I can stand down from Red alert now. <br><br>I have a small motorola, I believe about the smallest they make mounted and my 2m to the side. I will post up a picture tomorrow when I get back from helping out at the repeater site with my club tomorrow. I will have ample room in my new truck. The middle of the truck will be occupied by radio's. I have to fit a permanant mount phone and XM radio reciever in there too. My truck looks like a freekn' wire wonder land.<br><br>I also drill my antenna's in the roof with the standart motorola mounts. Makes for a nice install. I have a 8&quot; high garage door and 7' 6&quot; and want to decide how tall my antennas should be so I don't tear up the doors. I am looking for a ~30&quot; rubbery one's. <br><br>Eric

Hey, Jack (when you get back), I just noticed you left the cupholder intact.<br>Why didn't you remove it and mount the radios in the hole left by the cupholder?<br><br>That's what I was considering doing (maybe spring, nice warm weather) to leave room for legs in the middle seat.<br><br><br>phox
