How much of a decrease in mpg's with bigger tires

depends on your gears... i know when i went to 35s with the 4.10s, once the speedo was re-calibrated i noticed a slight increase. since they brought the rpms down, its helped...

Does putting on 315 70R17 require any lift at all to avoid rubbing of the tires or does the stock set up work with this size?

in the rear you should be fine, in the front you will rub somewhat.

I didn't do any lifting of my truck. I even have the OEM molded mud flaps and there is no rubbing with my H2 Hummer wheels and tires.
