Be sure to do your research and find a good drivetrain shop to do the job. Often times you will get what you pay for.

that sounds about right on for parts and labor...
add another 2-3 hours if installinf an e-locker in the front..

wanna trade

I just picked up a 04.5 3500 DRW, anybody want to trade axles that has 3.73's. I've got 4.10's that I don't really need.

IN AZ. Axles are alot easier to swap than gears
thanks
Steve

I too have been considering a gear swap.

I've got 3.73s and want 4.10's or 4.56's (front and rear).

As far as cost goes, locally it is about $1800 for everything.
Its very quiet, I haven't noticed any whining at all. I kinda wish I would have went with 4.10s, the 4.56s hurt me on top end speed, but its not worth another $1200 to swap to 4.10s.

if your auto, and the truck had 30" dia. tires stock, with 3.73 gears, it would take 4.56 to get close to stock tire-gear ratio. it will be just under what it would be from the factory. but i think most ppl. here agree that 4.10's and 37's mesh well together, as you gain a better top end.

u can use any gear ratio calculator to show you what im talking about.
