I just ordered the fuel tank vent mod for $40.00 shipped. It makes it so you can get all that extra fuel in there without standing there for 15 minutes. I know that I can get 5-6 extra gallons in if I have the patience to stand there forever. I won't have to worry about it anymore.......

I ran it down to a little between 1/8th and a 1/4th of a tank before I filled up. I added 27 gallons with 458 miles on the trip odo. Is there a low fuel light that comes on?
it generaly takes between 33-34 galon fill up.. my best tank to date was running over the mountains, averaging between 60-75 mph, bed full of camping gear, but little traffic to deal with, iff i recall i filled up at 775 miles and averaged just over 25mpg hand cal for the trip...
this was on known good summer fuel, 4oz lucas/10 gal and 2 oz mmo/10 gal.
the tank before i had run with b50, and had changed filters etc before the trip. im guessing it was the cumlitive effects of all that adding up because i never get that good of milage running 75 mph.
it however is not uncomon in the summer sitting in I5 grid lock, stop and go traffic for me to average low 20's.

my tips for fuel milage?
1. dont recline your seat, it makes it to hard to feal what your trucks doing.
2. get it into 6th as soon as posable. ive got 30" tires and 4.10's. im in 6th usualy around 30 mph...
3. if trafic conditions will alow it, the skip shift.. ie: i usualy go 2-3-5-6 or just 3-5-6 if trafics light.
4. learn how to hold throtle steady, and anticipate trafic.
5. dont tail gate

these tips aply to all of the guys running the trucks around unloaded.
oh, and no, my truck never had the milage reflash ether...

I put 38 gallons in my tank after running out like a dumb *** last week And I looked on my build sheet the dealer printed up for me and it says additional 8 gallons of fuel code YHBA under options. Does this mean the tank is actually 43 gallons or that there was 8 gallons pumped in at factory?

This tank has been mostly highway, and over head is @17.8 now. At 400 miles, just under half of a tank....will post again when I fill up....

not patience just the need to fill all the way up. I average 300-600 miles per day in the summer pulling my trailer so that extra 5 gallons makes a huge difference. Also I am going to do my own tank vent modification so that I don't have to pump,click,pump,click,pump,click..........and so on.

OK, filled up today BEFORE fuel light came on, was at 535 miles for the tank. Overhead was reading 17.2-17.8 pretty much during the entire tank, which was about 80% highway. I added 30 gallons today, and comes out to 17.83 MPG. So far, my overhead has been REAL accurate. My highway driving consisted of 70 MPH @ 2000 RPM's, with some in town thrown into the mix. Either way, I am REAL happy with the MPG of this truck. Those of you that are getting better then that, hats off to you, as I do not see me gettting any better fuel economy then that, unless a programmer will net better fuel economy.....

With the addition of any fueling/computer mods,..
This would be more accurate.
