Would you guys stop running over other innocent cars...it must be the reason these trucks cost more than anything else to insure!

Hey Hoss,

Wonder what kinda horn the caddy would have being driven by a cow?
MOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Secondly,
I thought that road hunting was illegal even with a Dodge Ram, but it is good to know I have the perfect deer road hunter. !

I posted it without the clarification at first then figured with this crowd i would have to go back and correct it later . I could just see a whole new thread started about cattle driving caddies.

bd, get yourself a ranch hand. My wife and kids got me one for father's day. I tell you, these things are indestructable. I had a freind who has a ranch hand on an 04 hit a deer driving out to Lubbock. She was going 65, and NO, repeat NO damage to either the bumper or the truck. I saw the pics, it was really ugly for the deer. I can't wait for the day a deer steps out in front of me!

Tx hawg, you actually seem excited to nail a deer. It sure doesn't seem like anyone cares about the deer at all. Not that I am a big deer lover by any means, but it seems like you guys actually enjoy it! I would certainly try to stop or swerve, not only because I don't want to damage my truck, but I don't want to kill an innocent deer either... I can just see it now, you guys have special deer calling devices in the front of these mega huge bumpers just so you can lure them out and run them over

I wonder if I can get the insurance company to pay for a ranch-hand in lieu of replacing the bumper and front radiator? The only thing wrong with the front radiator is the line where the bumper bounced into it.

You should be able to get them to give you a check for the amount that the repairs will cost. It depends on your insurance company, of course. If they aren't willing to cooperate, try finding a shop that will.

I definitely want to add a Ranch Hand front bumper to my truck, although I do wonder what parts of the warranty it would void on my truck... hopefully just the front bumper. Maybe I'll get one as a Christmas present to myself... oh wait, that's what the truck was supposed to be!

DC won't accept responsibility for the airbag deploying, or not deploying.

Hey Lightman, I care about the deer, I asked who got it and nobody answered me , I bet that means there was not much left.

The addition of the Ranch Hand bumper will actually effect the calibration of the airbag deployment, not sure which way but it will. The front end has crush areas engineered into them to absorb the impact and I'm sure that Big Hairy Bumper will mess with them. I'm thinking (and this is just my $.02 worth) it will make the bags deploy easier, the bumper will not absorb the crash and will allow all the g's to get registered at the control module. It will save the front end of the truck better but may blo the bags when it really wasn't necessary. I was pretty involved with the early Ram crash sensor testing years ago. Once again, just my $.02 worth.

I would agree that the Ranch Hand front bumper would make the airbags more likely to go off. Of course, I would also just like to deactivate the airbags permenantly. I hate airbags and have known people who've been injured by them too many times. Don't know anyone who owes their life to one.

I called my insurance company. They said that it would be filed under comprehensive. I would still have to meet my 1g deductible, but I am still required to file a claim. They said that they can recommend a collision center, or I could pick one myself and get quotes. Seems pretty painless. I just don't want anything on my record. But I don't want to get dropped cause of somthing less than a grand in damages either. I'll probably go ahead and claim it. Probably won't see a dime increase but at least my bacon will be covered. I don't want it showing up on a carfax report or somthing.
I'm really sure that it will take less than a grand to fix it/replace with an aftermarket ranch hand.

Think carfax only files claims in excess of $5,000 or at least thats the way they used to work. Also if you dont file your insurance company will never know, thus if the repairs are less than your deductabel I wouldnt tell them at all. If you do file with them they can (and probably will) raise your insurance, even if you make a claim that doesnt cost them anything because it is reported on your insurance history. Just a few thoughts to ponder while sitting on hold to talk to your insurance rep...!!???
