Average MPG not one tank or instant or OH (over head computer).

Yes there are variations that's the whole point in a average of several tanks to keep it real.
My cousin helped his friend modify his ford and swore he was getting 30+ mpg. This goes to show how much people pay attention. He finally hand calculated it and it was 10mpg. I would think that you could tell by just how fast the fuel gauge went down it wasn't geting 30mpg. Some people are really clueless. And then all of a sudden they notice, I went 550mi on that tank instead of 450 I must be geting 20mpg.

I was fueling my dodge up next to a guy fueling his ford up. The guy asked me what kind of milage I got with my dodge and I quickly responded with 26 mpg. He said how in the hell can you get that out of an 06. I said I thought I would lie to him before he lied to me. The moral to the story. I am not sure I believe all of these mpg stories I here on here. There is one thing for sure. If you think the truck you own get's poor milage. Just wait till the 07's hit the road. It will be much worst with a higher price tag.

with my 06 it has 3500kms on it when empty the over head reads 17-18.5 on the hwy doing 65-70mph when pulling my 28ft 5th wheel trailer 13-14mpg doing the same speed to me thats great milage the best part is when going up a hill and the cruise control only drops 1-2 mph.my good friend that i work with we are both drillers on a drilling rig he has a 04 ford king ranch 1 ton diesel he pulls a 30 ft 5th wheel he hates it when i follow him any little hill he drop 5-10 mph i just smile and wave as i blow past him doing the speed limit and still on cruise control i just love the way the truck pulls all stock but thinking of getting some better air flow into the old girl

I think this truck is round about ready for work.... Last two solo fills, at the beginning of the week were... 22.3 and 22.1. Towing fiver, just now, grossing at 17250, and getting an average of 12 mpg, which is 1.7 mpg more than last time I towed this trailer. So at 26,000 miles, it is broken in properly, eh?

I've done 21.3mpg to Sacramento.. 200 miles. But I drove like I had an egg under my foot.... no fun at all but I wanted to see what I could do.

When we sold our motorhome, my wife followed me to deliver it. We only did 55 the whole way.. she got better than 22mpg, but that was at 55 and she was 'drafting' at times

And for those claiming to get 20+ without being easy on the go pedal..... I average 18mpg in my 2 liter Subaru... I've got a thing or two to teach you about not being easy on the go pedal

Got a Hemi right now.

Subscribing. I'm thinking of buying a 2500 or 3500 SRW quad cab SB 4x4 with cummins. I'm definately gonna get one before the 6.7 comes out.

Also, incase any of you want to know. My 2x4 1500 SWB, SC, with Hemi and 20's is getting worst of 11 city, and best of 22 hwy. Averaging around 20 mpg hwy at 75 mph right now with 40K miles on the truck. When it was new I was getting 9 mpg city and maybe 17 hwy.

For those from houston I was going Highway 59 from New Caney to the galleria for work and was getting about 21-22 mpg averaging 70 mph.

Moral of the story, 2x4 regular cab trucks get better gas milage and once an engine breaks in the milage increases as well.

I have a 1500 short bed reg cab sport 20's Hemi etc.. And it should weigh in around 5000 lbs... I went to the scrap yard and hauled some junk in out of my barn and when I came out it said me and trailer weighed like 6900 and there is no way that 16' utility trailer weighs that much, but I did have a couple hundred lbs in the bed. There scales might be heavy though because my initial weight was something like 16,000 lbs coming in. Not too bad for a short bed reg cab sitting on 20's and a 2' rear shackle drop .

I can get up to 22+ mpg if I am carefull.

20MPG is nothing. I hit 37.8 just the other day. Of course I was idling in 6th gear down the main drag in Casa Grande, AZ doing an avg. of 28mph! Of course this was hand calculated! It was tough trying to top off the tank as I only had to put in .0317 gallons as I had only traveled a distance of 1.2 miles.

Thanks Joe
Just checked the mileage on a buddies 1500 4x4 9.4mpg. Also checked a 05 Dodge 2500 diesel 4x4, intake, exaust, several different performance boxes. It had 20in rims and low profile tires, 4mi per hundred off on the odomiter. Thought it was getting like 18mpg plus. It was only 16mpg when I checked it.

When the truck was new I was getting like 9 too. Once they get some miles it will go up quite a bit.

It depends on how you drive it. I can take a 100 mile trip and when I get to my destination I'm like dam I didn't use very much gas. Then drive it into town that night and use more gas than I used on the trip it seems like .

If I didn't need a heavy duty truck I would just get another 1500 Hemi. But I wouldn't put a Hemi in a large 4x4 truck. Actually if I didn't need a truck I'd buy a sports car...

The 1500 short bed reg cab isn't getting it done, need a 2500 with CTD.
