Just turned 978,000. I'll try to get a pic of the odometer in the next couple of weeks and post it along with pics of the truck as well.

That might be a common rail record

104k on the odometer, but......
104k on the odometer but the hour read out says 5740 hr's.Picked the truck up in May and have no past history. Did some one idle it a lot or change the gauge cluster. 5740 hr's times, average say 50mph = 287,000 miles. The truck runs strong, burns no oil. Maybe a rebuild in it? What colour is the engine block in an 04? Has anyone else checked their engine hours vs. mileage.

My two Cummins powered trucks
2004.5 2500 Quad Cab has 98,000 km (61,000 mi)...highway & oil patch off road....usually covered in mud & loving it!
2005 Reg Cab 3500 dually has 88,000 km (55,000 mi)...all highway all towing assorted 5th wheels & tag trailers.
I plan to keep the 04.5 for two more years & buy the lowest mi 2010 I can find in the late fall of 2012 (company owned work truck & accounting makes sense to sell it on Jan 1 2013).
The dually will be mine for many many years...due to hail damage it is going to get an SRT10 hood & some top half two tone paint soon.

Just picked up an early 03 . Has 302k if i remember right it was around 6k hrs. was a highway truck . I have been told the highway drivin common rail trucks if properly maintained and ran with better fuel filtration will go 800k and or 15k hrs . We have a few tractors with over 10k hours that still run very strong!

105000 and it runs better than the day I bought it with 15 miles on the odometer. The engine has not given one issue. The tranny has been rebuilt, the seats are poor (until you mod them), and the steering was suspect. Having all these things fixed make this an incredible truck with 10K in 4WD.

He stayed in it for 2 more years....I have no idea how he made it finacially. Mine is an '03 with only 277k. His an 04.5 with almost 540k!!!!!

Guess I'll jump in here........ 188,000 @ 5200 hrs. No mechanical issues other than the recerc door last month. Tied it in the "fresh" position and all is well. I'll fix it if I get bored.
