high idle after start
After starting my '06 CTD yesterday, I walked into the house and about a minute later the truck picked up its idle to around 1000 RPM. I wasn't sure if this was normal, so I tapped the throttle pedal and it idled back down. (like a choked carburator) It was the coldest start I've done to the truck, around 40 degrees. Is this a normal computer controlled thing or not?

Ya, sounds normal. It's a warm up feature, should have idled up to about 1100 rpm and will stay there until you touch any of the pedals or the engine temp reaches 175-180 degrees.

No prob, this function gets used on my truck all the time in the winter. When we go sleddin' it will kick up within 30 seconds of stoppiing on the cold mornings.I just wish us 6 speed guys had the manual high idle available like you auto guys. Don't know why we have to be discriminated against.
