High Idle on a 6 speed???

I didn't want to hijack a thread so I thought I would just start a new one...

Is there anyway to put/enable high idle on a 6 speed? My truck idles a lot and I have seen where it has been said that high idle prevents damage. I know that when it's cold the idle goes up to 1000 but I was wandering if there was anyway to get it to idle up when it's not cold...

Besides a stick and the electric seat!

Thanks for the help guys

You can't do it through the factory computer but you can buy aftermarket products (sorry can't name one at this point) that will increase the idle.

I'm curious too. Someone said that you ask for the PTO flash to activate it, but I haven't confirmed it.

There was information on this a little while back. No one would give any information up within the thread itself. There were however, a million links posted everywhere. Some were good links, others were bad, and I got tired of trying to follow the maze.

Hopefully someone will give up the info right within this thread.

Try looking at what stateline did, look at post #40. https://www.dieseltruckresource.com/...ight=stateline

It sounds like your difficulty will be getting the dealer to enable it once you do the modification. But if you were in the market for a Bully Dog downloader, this could be a plus.

there is a way, think of all the guys who buy duallys for work, the g56 has 2 PTO's ready too go on it, it would only make sense too have a flash at the dealer for it!!

Another forum a guy figured out to do this. I believe he had to order a clutch switch from cummins (part number is listed in the thread) and then get the dealer to flash the ecm. All in all it sounded fairly easy and I believe others have tried it also. The link is attached:

I got the cummins switch from dodge, and when you install it you can enable the manual high idle with the drb. works great
