HID Headlights..NE1 try these yet
I'm looking to upgrade my headlights (they suck)
I noticed these on eBay...for a true HID kit these are pretty cheap
eBay Item number: 110027782577.
Also, has anyone tried the projector lights available (aftermarket housing too)?
Not sure just upgrading my stock bulbs is going to be enough.
Any thoughts you guys ?
Thanks

The HIDs look cheap. I would stick with Hella products. Usually come out of German cars. But you can buy kits on eBay. Use Hella Balasts and Hella bulbs. There are other great HID companys, but I would stick with Hella.
A good HID kit will cost atleast $500... Those Japanese ones dont last long at all. Bulbs burn up quick and the balasts are not top quality.
The lense housing looks solid. I would just buy the housings, then find a nice Hella kit.
Good luck, hope all goes well.
Also, most HID bulbs are LOW beam only. So your high beam will still be normal Halogen or buy another set of HIDs for the high beam.
I would buy a kit like this:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Acura...29006970QQrdZ1
Then retrofit it in those eBay housings. Much better light, and a real nice cut off line for the light. Just like the BMWs and so on...

I updated my bulbs and was still disappointed so I stuck 100W Aircraft landing lights in place of my fog lights and rewired the relays to function with high beams.
Best thing I ever did. $16 for the rubber housing and $12 a bulb. The bulbs are only rated for 25hrs but I only change 1 or 2 a season at $12 a pop so it's still way cheaper than replacing the factory setup plus mine actually lights up the road.
Those HID's are pricing but that will be my next step.
The stock Dodge Headlamps suck!!!

Buy them at any auto parts store that deals with logging equipment. They are popular on Cats, skidders, processors, logging trucks, bush trucks, etc, etc...
The housings are available in standard 4" and 6" rubber by "Grote" and the bulbs are made by "GE" and a few others. Nothing special really.
My Buddy has two 6" 130W floods in his Buckstop bumper and 4-6" (2x100W and 2x150W) on top of the bumper. I wired them up to relays so everything functions in automatic and kicks down with the high/low beams. He did have to add a second Alternator after doing so but that's his decision if he wants to run that much light. Personally my 2 100Watters are enough.
**P.S. All my prices were Canadian funds...yours should even be cheaper.

At night, while working off of the GN I built, I've had every light on the truck & trailer on for 30 minutes without problem - that's 8 lights on the front of the truck, 4 on the rear, plus 8 lights on the trailer (2 huge 10" SS floods I made) for a total of @ 1200 watts.
