Hey guys need some help

I am looking at an 05 dodge ram cummins quad cab laramie
Trim: Laramie Quad Cab 4X4
Type: Pickup
Mileage: 36,331
Color: White
Transmission: Automatic
Engine: Diesel I6 5.9L/360
VIN: 3D7KS28C05G707492
Stock #: 068501
Selling Price: $31,995

Does that at all look like a good deal. this truck has pretty much every option that i can think of except the sun roof.

The truck towed a 5th wheel horse trailer in its previous life. Nothing too heavy. I have the truck now on an overnight test drive and everything exterior and interior looks good.
What should i look for that might become an issue if i buy the truck?
also at highway speeds once the truck kicks into 4th gear there is a funky very noticeable vibration. kinda like i am sitting on a giant sex toy. Is this something normal

and finally what should i counter offer them for this truck?

Thanks in advance guys.

Ive requested that your post be moved to the 3rd gen forum for a wider audience.

Truck sounds good but the vibration is not normal.

Welcome to DTR!

If I remember correctly there was an issue regarding rear drive shaft balance.

Do a search on the issue.

Are you buying this from a Dodge dealer?

First off... Welcome to DTR!

I'd say they are a little too high. I bought my '04 with 34,000 miles a year ago for around $23,500.

Kelly Blue Book list the truck as follows:

Retail - $36,330
Private Party - $31,615
Trade In - $27,100

I'd offer them somewhere between trade value and private party value and see what happens. The worst thing they can say is no thanks. Remember, they need to sell the truck, you don't need to buy it. Use that to your advantage.

Sounds like someone is dumping it because the 36k warranty is out. You can buy a new 2500 QC 4x4 SLT Auto here in Texas for 28-29k right now without bargaining.

If you mean the truck shudders going into 4th then the transmission is toast. If your talking just driving down the road at 68-75 MPH then it has the infamous vibration that can not be fixed.

2 year old truck with 36,000 miles for $32,000 sound way high to me. I just bought my 06 brand new back in august for $34,000. Deals are probably better now. New truck financing will be better also which would make the deal on a new truck after financing the same as a used truck when all is said and done.

Welcome to the site.

Like stated before I would try to take them down on price assuming that you get that rattling settled then I would haggle with them a bit. Do you have a trade and if so what?

When the guy traded in the truck he probably only got $24,000 for it. So I would offer them 24,000 or 25,000. If they say no, go on the the next one or get a new one for just a little more.

Try another truck

I'd pass on this truck, there are others for less without a concern coming up.

D,

I just bought the Mega cab in my sig on the 17th, Paid $33K before taxes for it. Unless you really like something particular about his truck, go look at an 06 dealers need to sell them or they have to start paying taxes on them. They will really work the price for you.

Good luck!
