Here's Mine
Well, I picked mine up Wednesday night , and here's what she looks like. I know you people have never read these words before but, I LOVE THIS PICKUP! I've only put less than 300 miles on it, but man, what a treat. I too noticed the "bark" when she shifts with little or no load, and was pleased to read on this forum what that was all about. I also inisted that the service dept. check the punkins (differentials) before me to ensure plenty of oil...mine were filled to the bottom of the holes, maybe they have figured it out? Anyway, without further ado, here she is.

Any fly fishing over there <G>?

You might want to consider a bug screen. Mainly, I just want to see if I could figure out how to post a picture. I should have bought black window screen but, it's cheap and it works. I used the clips along the top of the radiator to keep the screen in place.

Bob

Re: Bugs
Yeah, those are sickening bugs smashed and creamed all over the front. I took that picture in the rising sun the morning after I brought it home, so those bugs accumulated in less than 100 miles of driving. Funny you should mention the screen, I was thinking of something like that when your post magically appears. Also, after scrubbing those bugs off by hand, I applied a coat of Liquid Glass to the entire truck, and it seems to help by making the bugs slide off after impact instead of becoming embedded in the finish and chrome. RJS, I think it may be time to think about meeting for that hamburger. Fly fishing... since all the water is over there, we travel to the Bighorns for that 8)

OS

Re:Here's Mine
Ah, bugs, the perpetual problem. There's no easy answer. We don't have many bugs in the Buffalo area compared to where I moved from, south central Nebraska. Still, you hate to see such a pretty truck all bugged up. Coats of wax help. Cleaning them off while they're still fresh helps but is kind of impractical. I did clean bugs off after every flight in the plane I built and flew for 4 years (http://www.vcn.com/~skinner/). I kept clean, terry cloth towels and a jug of water in the hanger. I swept over all the bug splattered surfaces with a wet rag, let 'em soak and then came back and scrubbed them off. When they're fresh, they come off pretty well. I read one suggestion of spraying "Pam" on the surface. If you stayed on pavement, maybe that would work on a long trip. On gravel roads it would be a mess.

Hamburger? I'm ready. Fishing? I'm ready. I caught 3 nice browns last night south of town.

Bob

It's my pot and I'll stir it if I want to. If you're not careful, I'll stir your's as well!
Re:Here's Mine
Old School, nice truck. You have the color combination I wanted but my wife did not like it so had to compromise.
Love my truck except for the stiff ride while empty.
