HELP!!! Truck Won't Lock or Unlock with Key
Hey Guys,
Everytime I try to use the key nothing happens; with either key. If I lock the door manually then the next time I unlock it, the alarm goes off. This just happened as of yesterday. Have I not reset something properly? Any help would be appreciated. I know that two keys cannot go bad simultaneously on an '06 and that there has to be more to it.
Thanks!

I thought the battery change was the issue as well except for the fact that both act that way. Something may need re-programmed. What sucks is the fact that if I lock it, I have to set off the alarm in order to get in, AND then it starts so hard if at all I think because of the factory alarm trying to prevent it from happening.

D.Wiggs,
Is it with the FOB or manully with the Key? When the alarm starts going off, stick the key in the door cylinder and lock/unlock a few times. I know on some models this works.

And yes, the problem is with the FOB on the key, not the key itself.

I would disarm the system until I could get it into a dealership. Do you know how to disarm it?
Since this IS the known method by which repo guys and car thieves can disarm your security system I will give you the instructions. By the way, how the thieves get a key to enter is simple, they scope out your VIN, get a key made (or use a DC master key-you can buy these on the internet) gain entry, and disarm the security system.
In the security system manual - "If your remote transmitter fails to operate, the system can be disarmed using the Emergency Override button. Follow the procedure below:"
1. Enter the vehicle using the door key lock (The alarm will sound when the door is opened).
2. Insert the key and turn to the ON position (do not start).
3. Press the Override/Programming button-you know where this is. The system will disarm.
Now try your keyfobs and see if they are functioning normally. If so, chances are that you have a bad security module or it needs re-programming.
Hope that helps.

On the 06 the door cylinder does not have an arming or disarming switch in it.. the only way to arm the truck is by power lock or key fob..
So if the key fob does not work try locking the door manually (push the button down or with the physical key from the outside and the alarm should not activate..
