Help!!!!! Ran a gallon of gas through my 03
Yes a very stupid mistake while while being in a rush! I drained the tank and the fuel filter. As well as replaced the fuel filter and ran the Mopar conditioner through the motor. Everything seems to be fine now. What else should I do If anything and should I expect any long term defects? Probably the most idiotit thing Ive ever done but I am human! This is my fourth deisel and you would think I would used to the diesel pump by now! Oh well its over just wanted a little imput from the experts!(Please NO critisim I heard enough from everyone else) Thanks DHT

Happens all the time. You'll be fine.
If it was only a gallon, fill it up with diesel and keep it full to dilute the gas. Use the old fuel up by adding 1-2 gallons per tank until gone.
Drive it like you stole it.

I have a friend in Idaho who has Logging Trucks. Back in the 80's he had a driver put $35 worth of gas in the fuel. By the time he got to the landing to load, flames were coming out the stacks and the engine was DUN!!! Back then $35 was a lot of fuel. Glad to hear you only ran a small amount of it.

Fuel
As fortune would have it that I had 4 or 5 gallons of diesel in the tank when I added 10 gallons of gas! I ran the truck about 19 miles when I realized something was definatly wrong and figured out the problem! I'm hear to tell ya that that 03 motor sounded like an older 12 valve when it was running on gas! It won't ever happen again! I just hope I didn't hurt the longevity of the motor! The dealership mechanic felt like everything was going to be OK! We'll see! Ive put about 250 miles on the truck since and everything seems normal soo far!

I think you dodged a bulet OK. I don't remember which, but think it's Exxon, that that has red, white, and green hoses for their gasoline. I came very close to putting the green gas hose in the tank. It does have a smaller nozzle though.

X2........Heck, more than a gallon in 35 slips through leaky valves in the refinery.
A little sarcasm, not that much, but if you think that the valves that separate the gas and diesel lines in any refinery don't leak, think again.

A guy I know had a new dodge 1st gen(couldn't remember the year). He was in the middle of Kansas when the low fuel light came on. Came up to this town and went to the gas station. No diesel. So he put in 3 gallons of gas and about the same amount of new oil in it. He made it to the next town 20 miles away that had diesel. Had that truck for the next 7 years and he said it still ran like a top.

I ran about 10 -12 gal in mine and never even noticed it. Still runnuing strong!! I asked a diesel mech about it and he said they used to run gas in diesel engines just to clean'em out back in the day.

These handles are getting trickier and trickier at the pumps. BP is the worst, they use green for their gas and im use to seeing green dedicated to diesel. Everytime I fill up I double check that I flipped up the correct handle. I've caught my self sticking a green 89 octane handle in my tank once. lol
I say they make all the diesels handles purple or something, you realy can't mess that up.

relax...
I accidently put 1.5 gallons of unleaded in my '03 once a couple of years ago and didn't do any thing other than top it off with Diesel. Ran great on that tank and every tank thereafter.

That little bit wont hurt a thing. I wouldent have even wasted my time draining anything, just top it off with diesel and go. I know lots of people who put a little gas in there diesels in the winter to help keep them from gelling. I have even done it to my dads old 84 6.2 Chevy years ago and I put a LOT more than 1 gallon in it. Dident hurt a thing and couldent even tell it was in there. If I remember corectly I was told something along the lines of 10% and under is fine.

It looks very strange but before I stick the nozzle in the truck I stick it under my nose (not in it). Sniffing the fuel saved me big time at an old station in Utah. Probably get carted off to AA or NA some day but its worth it.
