Same has happened to me. I replaced any suspect looking bulbs, I used di-electric grease on the connections, but it was the Grey bulb holder on the rear passenger side that was bad.......it would eventually get as hot as a fire cracker and the chiming would begin.......found it for $21.00 on line, replaced it and the problem was solved.
