help. anyone know how to disable chime

Lamp out indicator and chime going continuously on and off. Have tryed replaceing bulbs and other suggestions. nothing has been successful. Can anyone tell me where chime is located? What it looks like, and how to disable it. I can put up with the flashing light but the constant chimeing is too much.
Thanks

Which lamp is out? Sometimes on the back lamps, you have to replace the bar that all three bulbs plug into. Common enuff that any dealer will probably hand you the part without looking it up.

No light is out. All Lights come on and work. Lamp out indicator does not stay on, it flickers on and off so chime keeps pace with it.

This may be caused by a lamp that is about to go out but is still working presently. Believe me, I've dealt with this twice now on two different trucks...

The intermittent issue is very indicitive of the rear light connector failure issue.

I've also had a few lights where the filament would be broken but would work when the vehicle was standing still. Thunping the lamp while lit will usually find the culprit.

Mine was doing the same. Intermittent light and chime. Replaced all rear taillight bulbs and used DI grease. problem gone.

A bulb that is loose in the socket will also cause this...

Look at the base of the bulb, look at the connection wires. One of them may be burnt a little. Either replace it or push the wire over a little to make contact.

one year later no lightbulb has gone out. flickering light on dash went out so chime no longer comes on. Wish I know the cause and would still like to know where the chime is so the next time it happens I can disconnect it.

I was going through the SM and it seems the chime is tied in to all of the circuits that have a chime associated to it (signal sent from the TIPM) and is part of the instrument cluster. If you want I can PM the link to you and you can look more into it. It also has the wiring diagrams and separate parts manual if needed.

Been there already. if you replace the grey light socket assb it will fix this. The passenger side is the more combo side. Our local dealer keeps them under the parts counter, in a big pile, ready to hand out.
