Grinding noise.
I have an '04 6 speed dually. Whenever you are going forward between 10-75 mph and you turn the wheel to the right between a 1/4 to 1/2 of a turn of the steering wheel, there is a grinding noise out at the front left tire. It sounds like a brake rotor being turned at a machine shop. It only makes the noise as and when I described. I took it to the dealer and the technician could not hear it but he is an older man also. Has anyone else heard/had this problem?

Your truck is probably to new for this but on mine and my old nissan I used to get noises from on eside or the other. It was rust from the cast roter getting cought up between the roater and the heat shield. Since I put on some after market roaters it hasnt happened at all.

Welcome uruiamnew. Sorry to hear about your trubl (truck and dealership) Don't be timid to ask for an opinion from the SM. Did anyone bother to put the truck on a lift and spin the left front to see if there was drag, or to see if the tire was rubbing the suspension or fender liner during tite turns under braking? Between 10 and 70 mph? All of the time? Each time you brake? Must not do it all of the time or the tech would have heard it right?

It makes the noise almost all of the time. It does not sound like a tire rub. I said it sounded like a rotor bieng turned, but it is not that loud. To me it is definitely noticeable. I will try to see when it does not make the noise and when it does. The truck is in the body shop this week getting a new fender, whoops. thanks for the input. Chris

I had a grinding noise also until I figured out that they didnt replace one of the screws in fender liner when they were putting on my replacement grill guard....It was rubbing the liner when i turned or went over a big bump in the road....Anyways I replaced the screw and there's no grinding now....You might check the liner for marks just to be sure....
