Gravity feed aux fuel tank question.
How well does the gravity feed work? All I do is T into the vent line and slap on the good old locking fuel cap right? I got a 50 gallon I want to get installed in my bed this weekend because I have some long trips coming up. Plus the 3.86 at wal-mart here sure beats the 4.07 I see at most other stations lately and I dont want to have to fill up with expencive stuff to get back home.
Thanks.
Thanks.

I thought you didnt have to worry about overflow because the gas cap is supposed to hold back the pressure and not let it leak out.

I go by common sense, screw the law. If I can make it work for me I ain't listening to someone who tells me I cant do it. But thats just me and I'll never just go with the system cuz the system sucks.

I had an aux tank in one of my older trucks. Just a 1/4" ball valve at the aux tank and a hose down to the filler neck. Pulled filler neck and drilled tapped and soldered a barb fitting onto the metal filler neck. It would overflow if I didn't shut off the valve...

step1: remove metal filler neck
step2: reduce 2" filler hose to something smaller and extend/ hook up to drain in aux tank ( a ball valve would be a good idea just in case of leaks)
step3: extend vent hose up into box and keep above aux tank and put some kind of filter on it to keep out dirt
simple and easy
your aux tank should also be vented with a roll over valve (at least attempt to be legal)

i had a small pump on my truck i just converted it to gravity feed i took a line out of the bottom of a 100 gallon transfer tank modified a napa 4309 base to accept a car quest 2 micron filter 86377 mounted it to a bed cross brace and teed into the filler neck hose no leaks and works perfect , i re read the law and it looks like if you connect the motor to the aux tank it is illegal but if you gravity feed the truck tank you are ok

I have run a gravity feed tank in my last 2 trucks. Never has overflowed. I do have a 1/2 valve on it. When I get under half a tank I open the valve and let her flow. It stays full along time. I sure would hate to overflow any of that liquid GOLD.

I gravity feed mine, valve stays open all the time, never overflowed or leaked.
I feed it directly into the filler line just bellow where my fass return is tied in.
