Dont know about the ticket but a month or so ago I went to a muffler shop and had them cut my muffler out and straight pipe it from the cat back. It was $50.00 and it can be herd inside the cab pretty nicely

 

I grew up in Lake Jackson, I bet he was in between west columbia and brazoria on 36. They lowered that section of road and are hitting it pretty hard these days.

 

If the truck is to quiet and to fast. Get a Smarty and just set the speed limiter to 70. It is like an automatic cruise control. Just start her up and put the pedal to the floor. Make sure to keep the Smarty with you so when you get to the track you can turn it off.

 

That was my experience in Brazoria county as well. The only time I ever had any grief out of the local law was once walking along the highway (in the ditch) at night. You'd think it was illegal to walk in the state of Texas!

 

Wow that seems cheap for speeding. I turned left at a sign that had an arrow showing right and NO ONE was around except for the cop that saw me..He was more sneaky than I, I guess...Bear in mind this was in a nearby rural town and not the city. Pulled me over and $225 later??? I mean ***? I feel thats pretty excessive for the crime. Big f-in deal I turned left at a right arrow....If there was traffic I wouldnt have. What a joke. What ever you do make them earn your money. I will plead not guilty and push it back and tie them up for as long as it takes. If they get my money they have to at least spend more than my ticket scheduling me and dealing w/ me.... We all pay and if they want $$$ they like the rest of us have to work for it.

Oh the officer told me after I asked him how many people he gets each day that he gets 5-7 and they could get 30 a day if they wanted...I appreciate the service but some of this revenue generating sh$t is so un-called for.

I forgot about that area. Dont get over that way to often. Too bad he wasnt traveling down 2004. He would have been given a ticket for driving too slow.

 

When I want to go fast, I carry my overseas (UAE or Iraq) license. That always gets them scratching their heads. LOL.

 

It was actually the City of Jones Creek. Little pip squeak of a cop. Looked at every inch of the truck and trailer. Even leaned way over the bed to inspect the hitch. I could see the 60 mph sign in the mirror and the back of the 60 mph sign for the other side and the 65 sign taking things back up to speed a few hundred feet away. I really had no intentions of speeding and I usually drive about 65 anyway on a 70 while pulling the rv. 65 in a 60 isn't like it's that big of a deal, especially just 20 feet inside of the 60 zone. It's been awhile but I would imagine my fot was off the gas letting it slow down naturally. It may be legal for them to do this, but it ain't moral. They'll get what they deserve eventually.

My few dollars may not be much, but aint nobody getting any of them down there anymore.

This may be getting a little off topic, but, with that said, there's actually only two kinds of rv owners. One who's had thier trip from h e double ell and the ones who just haven't had thiers yet.

That day above was my day. It started out with us leaving late, then getting about 50 miles down the road only to discover the groceries that our 15 year old was told to put in the camper did not get put into the camper. We had to drop at a McDonalds and I drove back 50 miles, got the groceries, which was a good thing because it included a gallon of milk that would have sat in the wifes hot car for about 4 days in the July Texas sun.

So after driving 150 miles, I get hooked back up, drive several more hours and get the above mentioned ticket.

You would think that would be all. Nope. We get to our destination and the electric service for the small campground should have been condemed, but we had about 5 rv's to hook up to it. Luckily I had enough tools to put it together to get us going.

The next morning, we took a friendly drive on the beach with someone navigating that goes there all the time, pointing the way so we don't get stuck. I'm driving the well worn path when I get the instruction to go around this one part because everyone gets stuck there. Well, we went aroud and got stuck as soon as I turned off the path. People just drove past us looking at us like we we're stupid for getting off the "trail".

We dig for awhile, but after about an hour, the rest of the group that got up to go surf fishing but didn't bother to tell me they we're going came along. All I had was a short ratchet strap, but with the aid of a spotter at my window, we hooked the two trucks together. As they started moving, I couldn't see the pulling truck over my tailgate so I was going on his word to go,go,go. As he was saying one of his go's, my truck plowed into the other truck that was now stopped, twisting up both bumpers.

I had had enough and went back to bed. Later that afternoon, I guess it did manage to get better. Everyone else was gone fishing again, without me, so I decided to fish where we were parked. But since I didn't have a current fishing license, I decided to go against advise of other and went into town and got one. God thing. As soon as I tossed my line out, a game warden walked up.

I'm not even going to mention the trip where the sewer hose came apart while dumping.
I did discover that if you take a bent up chrome bumper off, clean it to a bright shine, let it sit in the HOT Texas sun for a day, you can mash it into some soft sand and by using a carefully shaped hunk of 2X4, slowly pound it back into shape. You would never know it was twisted the way it was by looking at it now.

 

Yeah California is really stupid with the 55mph limit while towing a trialer. If you go 55 you'll cause all kinds of problems but if you go a reasonable speed you risk a big fine. I usually keep it around 65 but keep a careful watch for CHPs. Most seem reasonable but occasionally you get a jerk who's short on his tickets and picks an RVer as an easy target. The other thing you have to watch out for in California is the lane restrictions while towing. You're supposed to stay in the right most lane and are limited to the the right 2 lanes. When traveling through cities I find it safer to stay out of the right lane because of the idiots who can't seem to merge onto the freeways properly. I worry that I'll get popped for being in the wrong lane but I'd rather be safe.

Just curious how fast were you cited for to end up with a $500 fine? Was it the speed or the towing that made the ticket so expensive?

 

I found when I got my '06 that I was always running way over the limit too, I used Cruise a lot until I got used to the sound of it. Luckily I wasn't ticketed.

 

Go to http://www.ticketassassin.com . I read all his free stuff, especially about fighting a ticket "trial by declaration". My wife got a "no right turn on a red" ticket. It turned out that the cop wrote it for no right turn from a one way to another one way street. I fought it by written declaration and won! The cop didn't even send his declaration in!
Apparently he has templates you can download to fight with, and he just asks you to pay him a $25 fee IF you win! Give it a try.. AndI have no relationship with him, and in fact since I didn't download his templates I didn't pay the fee.
