Got a frickin ticket!!!! This truck is TOO quiet

I went snowmobiling with a bunch of guys for a weekend long trip. I hauled my trailer up to the mountain and got camp set up. We realised we didn't bring any movies so we hauled butt back to a small town to get some. On the way back in I pass this looky loo driving 50 in a 55 and kinda kept going. Passed a CHP officer and saw I was doing about 70!!! He pulled me over for doing 73 in a 55 but writes it up for 65!!

I was so used to my old truck and being able to tell how fast I was going by the sound of the motor that I am having one heck of a time keeping the speed down on this thing. I need to put some audible HP back in it so I can hear this motor run!!!

Do any of you guys know what this ticket is going to cost me?? It doesn't say on it. It was in Placer county Ca. Hopefully it won't be too much. I know I owe it, there is so many times I could have been stopped!!

My 2006 was SOOOO much quieter than my previous truck, many times I would look down and see 80, good news is that here in NM most highway speeds are 75mph but the 80 stuff in a 55 or 65 zone FORCED me to pay better attention so I would not get a ticket.

Stay on top of it, get used to the new sound. I installed a ME pipe, just a tad louder, but it did help to hear the truck, I have noticed that I am running more closely to the speed limit than before.

Where I now really have speed troubles is when I get into my Turbocharged Miata, I can easily creep up close to the 90-100mph range and THINK nothing of it!!!!

In Brazoria County Texas, 65 in a 60 was going to be about $150. Just an FYI, that county will always lack my respect. 100 miles of 65 mph speed limit, with about 400 feet of 60 mph limit with a Barney Fife imatation cop passing out tickets all day. If your puliing an rv, you'll get a full inspection. You get 5 days to respond with a check or letter that you want to take DD, but you get no address to send it to. And the number to thier DMV is unlisted, so you gotta start calling other city offices till you find someone nice enough to transfer you to them. I'll never drive through there or spend one single cent in that county again.

I hear ya about the sound issue. When driving the wifes Hyundia, I'll look down and be doing 80. It just doesn't feel the same.

in california, the bail amount is set by each county and varies according to the area the citation was issued. the fact that he wrote you for 65 helps you out alot. some folks will tell you to take it to court in the hopes that the officer wont show, but remember he get's overtime (usually a minimum 3 hours) and if he shows, you lose. you can however, take it to court and ask the judge for a reduction in fine. if you have a clean record, the judge will usually drop the fine in half. consider that a little inside info...

yep your gonna pay. but you can also check and see if you can do driving class so the ticket wont show on your driving record. some counties will let you do it online web courses also.

I know exactly where you were at. Northbound Hwy99 coming into downtown? The problem is you were 1/2 mile from CHP headquarters. I think that about says it all.

I went to court to fight a ticket in Lassen County, the CHP officer did not show up and the judge just delayed the court date to give the officer another chance to be present. I threw in the towel, how ya going to beat em when they change the rules.
Its a money making scheme and they got it rigged there where they never lose.

Lucky you didn't have your trailer. I got one in Colinga county I-5 2am the only peeps on the road was me and a REALLY short CHP 500.00 for speeding while towing. The ticket was even written up incorrectly I thought I could get out of it on that but all they did was write me a corrected ticket.

In Texas, you now get points on your record. Pass the first limit, and the coxst to renew your license goes up. pass another limit, and you won't get your license renewed at all.

I live in Brazoria County, City of Alvin to be exact. The law enforcement is usually pretty laid back, until you **** them off. You sure you werent in Santa Fe or Hitchcockin Galveston County? That sounds more like there way of doing things. I've been moving 80 down the road and been passed by County Sheriffs like I'm standing still with no lights or sirens running. What little Barny Fife town were you running through anyway? Brazoria? Oyster Creek?

I was headed south to Tracy for a PBR ride. We hauled livestock and had a $1 million worth of bulls on board. the thing that made me really mad is that I had a clear record, not even an overload ticket and the cop told me that they did not give big trucks breaks. The other thing that made me mad was there were 6 other big rigs behind me and NOT A DARN ONE OF THEM said anything. The cop said, that lane ended about 1/2 mile ago! I called BS because there were no signs stating such and I was still in the middle of Sac trying not to get run over by cars pulling in front of me. I even wrote a letter to the judge and that did not get my anywhere so I have a bad taste in my mouth about cali and pulling a trailer.
