Got 315's for $46 per wheel

I was reading the thread about the warranty on the Michelin tires and how the sidewalls were cracking. I thought I'd run by my local Discount tire and see what they thought. They came out and saw the cracking on the sidewalls (where the tire meets the wheel) and said it was a defect and I'd get 100% credit. I was amazed since I wouldn't have thought twice at the cracking had it not been for the thread on this site. Anyway, the Michelins have 11,800 miles on them with 1 rotation. I told them I'd like the 315 BFGoodrich's in their place and they said no problem - I just pay the difference ($234 - $188 per tire). Somehow the total came to $350, so I'm going to look a little closer at the charges once the tires arrive and I have them installed. I know the price does not include the warranty which was an additional $150, but it does include $50 for mount and balance.

Just want to say what a great resource this board is - thanks guys!

I paid $44 per tire plus tax $238.15 total. Michelin pays for the mount and balance. says so in the warranty booklet.

I forgot about that place. My wife has bought tires there (she works in Gainesville) and they were 1st class. I still don't know what the total will be, but they called and said the tires are in and the computer did not take off the full 100%, but they will get the price fixed when I arrive. I'll also look for the mounting and balance statement in the booklet. I asked about that and they said a manufacturer almost never pays for it on factory tires. Thanks for the head's up!

I used the Discount Tire in Denton. I think the manager's name was Shane and the guy that set me up was Matt.
