One night I let a girl talk me into driving into a dried up pond. I figured Id get stuck but iether good or bad judgement ( you make the call) I went in anyway.
I only got 1 front tire in and I was stuck. We had 18 cold beer and a 3 hour wait for a tow-truck so it worked out ok.

Its all about the tires Ive only got stuck one time and i had some slicks on. Now that I have some better meat hooks I dont get stuck anymore! The other day my dad and I were cutg down some trees and pulled down in a field to load the trailers well after I loaded my 16 ft to the max I tryed pulling out and couldn't so my dad which drives a Z71 hooked on to me and gave his best to pull me and the trailer out. lets just say he failed so i unhooked from the trailer and gave her H@^^ and got my self out. then i had my dad back down and hook the trailer to his truck then I hooked the CUMMINS to him and pulled them both out!

I'll just have to plan on upgrading the stock all-seasons to a slightly more agressive tire once I get a 4x4!! ...or just look for a truck with the on/off-road tire option.

Do you have rear limited slip differential? I don't know if that would make a huge difference with a 4x4 but I've seen several 2008's without this.
With my stock tires I had to put it in 4x4 a couple times when I totally didn't expect to coming from a 1500 2wd I drove before this truck. Once going up a steep hill in austin on a gravel road suprised the heck out of me it would just spin in 2wd. Then once backing a trailer up a minor incline at my lake house, maybe 1500lbs including the trailer.
If in doubt I know put it in 4x4 now.

As far as limited slips go I notice a lot of trucks that come from up north are open diff. Around here most all of them I looked at on the lot were limited slip. Guess it's because of ice on the roads?

The start of many a bad story ........
You're not kidding!!!

It started with a nice little peaceful drive...

And quickly turned into...

After 3 hours of digging, carrying rocks, airing down, busting a fog light, blowing 2 shocks, bending the front steering stabilizer, getting lost after dark for another 4 hours, we finally made it home!

The dumb things you do when you're with a girl...

The biggest problem with these trucks is the relatively light rear end. I have better traction with the open front differential than I do with the so-called "anti-spin" in the rear. There is nothing like crawling up a steep, narrow, muddy road with a steep drop on the passenger side and feeling the a**-end crab to the right.

On the map, it's labeled a soil road. I think it had something to do with the original owner's shorts.

Which reminds me, I need to crawl under the back of the truck and see if there really is an anti-spin differential back there.

Does any body have problems with Bad wheel hop when travelling in 4x4 terrain? If so what tires were you running?

Tires help some, limited slip helps a little more, but the major problem is the frame is too stiff and doesn't follow the uneven terrain.

While going straight or while turning? Mine hops some turning. Changing tires hasn't made any difference. I have had other vehicles do the same thing.
