Fuel Tank Question...

Does the stock tank have any other valves or breather valves than the vent line which hooks to the fill tube?

I have a transfer tank which dumps into my stock tank. Since it just turned hot outside, I have noticed a little diesel on the side of my stock tank...coming from the top. I have not had a chance to stick my head up there and look yet, but was wondering what could have leaked/weeped. I went all winter with no problems. It seems like since it warmed up my "full" tank expanded and some diesel "burped" out. It has not dripped yet...

Thanks for any opinions!

The 5/8" vent line goes straight from the filler neck to a point about 3" from the highest point on the tank. The tank is flat on the bottom, but stair steps on the top. The bottom step has a one way vent fitting with no hose on it, the middle step is where the filler hose and vent hose connect, and the top step has another one way vent fitting with no hose on it. When I dropped my tank both one way vent fittings had evidence of small "overflows" on them. Probably not a big deal. The one way vent fittings look like 1/4" hose barbs.

I would suspect so, but my upper vent had evidence of small overflow as well. I wouldn't sweat it. I would bet that the overflow evidence you have seen has absolutely nothing to do with your auxilliary tank.
