Unless he has an EXTENDED warranty they aren't covered pass 3y 36k.
Last time I checked they aren't part of the Engine.

Mine are fine at 43k and I don't really baby the truck. I would argue the warantee with them because you have a 7yr/70k powertrain warantee still in effect. Last I checked, U-Joints ARE a necessary part of the powertrain.

The front axle is driven so it should be covered under drivetrain. I think history shows some dealers will cover it and some you have to fight.
Good luck and let us know what happends.

i guess they are not part of the engine but im pretty sure a engine and drivetrain waranty covers more than the engine alone and ive never seen a diesel waranty only last for 3y 36k,im sure thats a gas drivetrain waranty,

Dad's 99 only had a 3 yr, 36,000 mile warrenty. I don't think back then they had the length or term they do now. Just part of technology changes now they can, because of better manufacturing process, this and that. Back then nothing ever broke (well it did but took a long longer)

Front axle made it too 46k. Rear driveline ujoints made it too 33k.

No secret they are not holding up to good. Give it a few and you'll be asking why the ball joints are not lasting also, of course DC covers them selves on the ball joints somewhat with some rediculious spec.

I ended up paying $1012 to get it fixed. I went through a lot of crap with them, but I believe they thought they had someone who was a yes person to whatever they wanted to do.

Not a farm boy, who just moved to the area, and does not have a place to do it himself, cause I would have saved the near $500 in labor if I had somewhere in my new state that would have let me do it. I was at their mercy cause my truck is my onlt mode of transportation.

I am looking at remeding that also. Anyone got a cheapie they want to get rid of??? haha

My warranty book specifically names the u-joints as being covered under the 7-70 warranty. Dealer did both of mine for the $100 deductable at 60k miles. If your dealer wouldn't cover it I'd be on the horn to Dodge.

75000 miles on my truck.

The u-joints in the axle are only available at Dodge. If they are available, they are not in Cullman, Alabama at the AutoZone, Advance AutoParts, Napa, or Oreiley's.

From Dodge, they are $77 + tax
