Front suspension

My wife's Dakota has got me re-thinking about buying an '06 3500

It started out with the letter stating there is a 100k warranty on the upper ball joints. Now, got the truck in for the ball joints, and found that all the control arm bushing need replaced, and the steering rack as well.

With only 46k on the truck, this seems to tell me that DC has some quality problems with the front suspension components.

The other quality indicator is that DC is picking up $1600 of the $2100 bill. This seems to tell me that they know about the problem and are "working with me". Granted, not a bad deal for all the work being done, but why should I have to have the front suspension rebuilt after 46k?
How are the 2x front ends on the 3500's? Do they hold up better than the DAK's? I'm looking for opinions here, godd, bad, and ugly.

Thanks!

Tony
