front receiver

I am thinking of fabing a front receiver.

I am planning on welding 2 receiver tubes to plates and bolting them to the frame ends where the tow hooks should be.
This way I can slide in a cross bar with a center receiver, or other options such as a Motorcycle rail, cargo rack

Anyone done this?

Any other suggestions

Thanks

I have seen this done on a 2'nd generation, and a ferd hd. They were on there for mounting automatic boat loaders, and they worked great.

i like to fab things up as much as the next guy, but do yourself a favor and just get the warn unit. it is not exactly easy to install and that told me how difficult it would have been to create. price isn't bad either.

I also have a hidden hitch front mount. A lot easier moving trailers around the yard.

dont know if that would be true since the frames are very different but maybe they have an application.

It would be ALOT easier with 2 ppl. You have to undo the front stabilizer. The hitch is fastened between the stabilizer and the frame. It come with new bolts.

I did my Warn install myself. Bolts between the frame (after removing the front bumper assy.), using the factory bumper bolts, plus an additional 2 bolts per side from the bottom. They did all the R&D, easily worth the $149 (I think).
