Front Drive Shaft Question

Some jack*** was nice enough to take my factory shaft out from under my truck for me and after searching all over Texas I finally found one out of an '05 that fit. Tore it apart to replace the u-joints and did find out that the two joints in the c-v were larger than what came in my '03 but the joint at the diff. was the same. Problem arose when I put the diff. joint together. It had a very slight amount of side-to-side play (the trunions moved in the caps). I shot grease in it and thought everything was good to go.....yeah right!!!! Got a 1/2 mile down the highway and heard 2 crazy pops and a bad vibrations started. Got out and looked and sure enough, the 2 (loose) caps had made an early exit. All of the locks were in place when I installed the shaft but to my recollection those 2 caps were recessed in the yoke, the opposing 2 caps were flush and tight. Called NAPA to verify the part # and I supposedly got the right one, numbers matched anyways. Has anyone else had this happen or is it just my **** luck on a Friday?

C-V joint part #'s were 331 Precision
Diff. joint part# 534G Precision

all 3 yokes have the same joint. Neapco #'s for auto are 2-0054, The 6 speeds get 3-0486. 03-05 share same part#s, from what ive read the only true fitting joints are the aam's all the others are .001" too big, some fit perfectly some dont and have to grind down the retaining clip a little. This info is straight out of the neapco catalog. Ive also read that the neapco joint fit the best...just stating facts ive read.

sorry guys that was the rear driveshaft info the carden joint gets 2-4800, the yoke gets 2-3011...apparently 03-04 could have had either a dana or aam cv head.the 05 had just the aam head.
