follow up to who has cooper tires

just pulled the trigger on the 285/70/17 atr tires. so far i am very impressed. i ran the rugged trails to 48560 miles and was pleased with them. however, once the new shoes were on i realized what i had been missing. the d rated tire is only 8 plies instead of 10 and hence a softer ride, make that much softer. they were worn, and traction was suffering, new rubber is new traction and driving in rain today was much better. the tire has a different lug pattern but no more road noise. i will give them two thumbs up so far and a hearty endorsement.

unless anyone else comes out with new tires I am going with the cooper 35s. My tires will last till spring I hope. Diesels and tires dont mix well here. I will be lucky to get 15000 on this set.

I talked to several people that run the Cooper Disco ATRs and they rave about them. Like the Coopers better than the Michelin LTXs.
Guess the ATR will be my next tire.

I got the ATR's on mine, 285's. Coming up on 4000 miles, so far so good. No noise at all, they seem to work very well in the snow, I havent had them in any deep sloopy mud yet but what little I have zero issues at all. I will say that I like them better in the larger tires sizes, meaning the lugs open up and look to bite better as the size of the tire goes up.
