First tow...I'll never buy another gas truck
This week I had to tow my offroad truck from Phoenix to Tucson and back. I've made the trip many times with my old Titan as the tow vehicle, and a couple of times with an F-150 up front. After this week's trip I realized that I should've gotten a diesel a long time ago.
The biggest difference I noticed was that the truck was far more solid going down the road. There was no wandering in the steering that plagued the smaller trucks I've had. I wasn't fatigued at the end of the trip like I was with the smaller trucks.
Going 70 mph (according to the GPS, the speedometer said 72 mph) the mileage hand calculated at 11.5 mpg. The half ton trucks were getting 7-8 mpg.
Here's a pic of the truck and trailer. The trailer is a 20' load trail 14K. I'm using an Equal-i-zer weight distribution hitch. The total weight at approximately 8700#.

Nice!! I'm a 2500 Hemi convert myself. I'm still wondering why I waited soo long. Towed 25' travel trailer to Pismo Beach, same road both times. Hemi got me 8-9 mpg, the CTD 12-13. Hemi goes down to 2nd gear at 4500 rpm to go up the pass on 101 outside Goleta to maintain 60. CTD stays in overdrive and makes a cool rumbling tone like a big rig when worked. This is the pass here Also, CTD's are heavy and get bogged down in beach sand pretty easy, especially if you're a 2wd towing a trailer. Note, I DID GET OUT ON MY OWN, I just aired all 8 tires down to 12 psi and drove on out to the camp spot!
