Financing Question: Part II
Dodge is currently offering 0% for 48 months and you can get $1500 back, too. For the 0%, do they want 10 or 20% down? Anyone know?

I'm trying to calculate what my payments would be. A local dealer has a 6 speed, which is rare around here, and I was thinking of making an offer before the months ends. The 3500 is close to what I want. Maybe they're close to reaching a goal and might be willing to bend a little bit more than usual.
Edmunds shows 0% for 48 + $1500 for my area, but putting my zip into Dodge.com just brings me to a list of local dealers. I'll have to check a few other sites.
The main reason I posted the question is I was wondering if anyone knew how much leeway a dealer had with DC's financing. I want as much info as I can before taking it for a spin. I want to be able to concentrate on the vibration and other issues during the test drive and not thinking of the financial angles.

Of course, if your dealer isn't a good one, they might start all over on the price, too.
Just remember, you have both the end of the month and end of the year going for you and they WANT you to take a truck this week!

I bought my truck a year ago and at that time the 0% financing didn't require anything down. In fact, I was able to pocket the rebate money too!
I agree with Joel, if you haven't signed the papers yet then it isn't too late. The financing is done through DC, not your dealer, so your dealer shouldn't care. If they whine about changing the paperwork then they are being lazy and providing poor service.

When I purchased my 01 it was 0% for 36 months and I did not put one cent down. I even had them roll the state vehicle tax into it. I figured at 0% I was better off keeping the money from the sale of my old truck instead of using it for a down payment. I took the money from the sale of my old truck, 12k, and put it in a number of CD's with different term lengths. I set them up so that every three months a cd expired. I would then use that and the interest, 1/3 of it as part of my payment for the next three months until the next cd expired. With the rates (at the time I purchased the cds rates were in the 4-5% range, not that high now though) I got it saved me approx one payment due to the interest on the CD's. My payment was approx a 1000.00 a month but the money from the cds averaged about 360.00 a month. My payment with putting the 12k down would have been 675ish. Got to love free use of someone elses money.

48 months for zero interest is smoking.

I just bought one and the deal was you had to finance at least $10,000.00 of the price to get the $1,000.00. They had an additional $1,000.00 discount and a $500.00 holiday bonus which brought the total off of the top to $2,500.00 off of MSRP. You also have to make at least three months payments before you pay this off or you forfet the rebate on the financing. This is as my dealer explained it to me. The deal ends 1/3/05.
