Talking It Finally Made It

My new truck (3 months in waiting) is here... You were right, well worth the wait. I have no 70 mph vibe (at least yet), 16.5 mpg at 75 mph ( Granted, this is per the computer, but still not bad for a new truck! ) No problems soo far (except for a little extra wear on the rear tires Man, this has a lot more power and torque than the 2001 powerjoke I got rid of

Just had to tell someone, (especially since I am working 12 hrs a day for the next couple days, and can't play with it much) Hoping to get running boards on, load leveling hitch adjusted , and brake controller on tonight, so I can see how it pulls on Saturday (heading to Cedar Point, seems like a good break in trip pulling the trailer )

I dunno about trailering it too soon. The owners manual cautions not to exceed 50 (?) MPH or towing the trailer for 500 miles or "serious engine damage may result". Just thought I would mention it. Others on here say ignore the warning. Nat

Don't worry about the engine... word is, straight from Cummins, that you can beat it like a dead dog from the git go. It's the gears and other drivetrain components that need a little time to seat and break-in. I plan to drive mine for 20 miles, let it cool every 50 miles or so until about 300 miles. At that point I'll load it up with about 8K lbs, tow about 20 miles, let it cool off, and tow a little further following by a cooloff, then beat the %$#& out of it. Of course, knowing me, I'll have over 1000 miles on it after only having it a day or two... I don't see how some of you guys can own a new truck for months and only be turning 1K... ack!

Actually, I will have had mine for 3 days prior to leaving, and will have darn near the 500 mile that dodge recommends. So, I guess I am not one of those either

I'm clear that Cummins says something to the effect of "drive it like you stole it, and don't baby it or it'll never break in"

Sounds like fun, huh

over 2.5 days i put on 2250 miles on my 04.5 dodge cummins 3500 laramie.

I started my trip with 400 miles on the motor, and was doing 70-80 the whole trip, it worked out well

How many miles per fillup were you getting on average?
