Filter minder...

Stopped to fill up, while the pump was running I checked my oil, while under the hood I noticed something missing... The filter minder on the side of my air box was gone.... I stopped by the dealer to see about getting a replacement - they wanted $35 for the thing. I decided it wasn't that important... I just put a piece of tape over the hole for now. When I get a new intake I guess it will be a mute point..

Anybody else had their filter minder just disappear?

Still have mine, but I agree that if you have aftermarket air intake system the "Filter Minder" is pretty much useless. I check my AFE Pro-Guard 7 on a weekly basis. If I notice or remember I push the button on the filter minder without paying any attention as to what level it is at.

They don't work that well IMHO. The one on my '99 as well as the one on my 04.5 have never moved. The filters are plenty dirty when I clean them too. Go figure??

Did you test your filter minder to see if it was functioning? According to info I found on Baldwin's website, Cummins turbocharged spec is 25 inches of H2O max restriction. According to Fleetguard and Baldwin, the filters can look very dirty but still be flowing and filtering good and as dust builds up on the filter, it becomes more efficient at filtering out particles.

Roadie,
You may be able to get the same type of filter minder from a Cummins, Fleetguard, or Baldwin distributor.
