Factory steering wheel radio control
I was wondering if it is possible to install the factory steering wheel radio control on a 03 Ram. Has anyone done this before? That's one thing I forgot to get with my truck. My old Ram had it and I really miss that option.

I'm sure it can be done. All you have to do is be willing to pony up the bucks.
It was an option in 03. But to get it you had to buy the optional radio. I like the steering wheel controls as well. But I don't like it enough to pay $700 bucks for a radio just to get the controls on the wheel.
It would be nice, and logical, if DC made the controls an option without the gee whiz radio.

I inquired to the dealer about the same thing. Dealer told me that it would not be worth the effort. You would need a new steering wheel and wiring harness. Very expensive. i wish I would of ordered it but I didn't want spend the extra for the higher end radio.....

Seems if your younger than 35 spending bookoo bucks on a radio is very important. For the rest of us, it would be nice if DC made the wheel controls optional without the radio option.

How about the flipside to this question. Can anyone tell me if the factory wheel controls can be used to operate an aftermarket head unit? The speakers are sounding pretty weak and I am pretty sure there is not enough power generated with the factory head unit.

most decent (over ~$200) radios come with a remote now.
www.crutchfield.com will send you the deck, and throw in free the physical adapter mount, the wiring adapter, the antenna adaprter, and instructions. they monkey up sometimes, but they recover nicely.
it lets the wife or kids in the back seat run it to thier liking. fade to rear, let them go.
there's some sort of adapter to hook the steering wheel up to an Infra red box to control aftermarket radios. have to cut wires.
