My truck didin't come witht he alarm. the light is on the dash board, but no alrm. can anyone give me a osurce for the factroy alarm? I saw a web site that had them but can't find it again.

Whether or not this unit actually uses the led already in the the dash insturment cluster, as opposed to having a separate "dash led" is something I've never been able to get answered. Back when I was considering this unit, I found posts elsewhere on the Internet from people who had installed the unit that seemed to indicate that the dealer had to hack another led into the dash. While it doesn't protect against the same range of threats as this factory unit, I eventually decided to go with a Ravelco (just protects against vehicle theft, not contents theft) instead.

I have the EVS and you do have to add the LED in the dash somewhere. I have had a lot of problems with it and it is currently in the shop again for it. it will not shut off with the key fob. They are ordering a module for it. Will see what happenes. Very easy to install but truck does not seem to like it.

Thanks for confirming the dash LED situation. Looks like I would not have been happy with the EVS unit, I don't know why they just can't make it like the factory EVS unit and hook it up so that it uses the LED already in the dash? As I recall, you had to get a different EVS unit (different part # than the previous years) just for the 06's (probably works with the 07's as well). All those models should be guarnteed to already have the factory LED, right? I could see the separate LED if we were talking about an EVS unit going into a large range of model years that may or may not already have the LED. Oh well, just seems like a shame to hack up your dash when there's already a LED installed. Thanks again for the info.
