extreme or grapplers
Hello
About to buy my next set of tires and looking for some opinions. I've been running the 295/17 nittos for quite some time now and after about 35 thousand it's time for a new set before winter. I was going to try out their e rated 305 which is about all I can fit with my rims, but started looking at the pro comp extreme mud terrain in the 305 as well. I've had nothing but luck with nitto but just wanted to try something else, but it's a pretty large purchase and don't want to have regrets. Just looking for an insight on this. Has anyone had the extreme mud? Can't seem to find many posts about them, but seems most like the all terrain and their mud tire looks sorta tame for a mudder so it should wear decent hopefully. Thanks

the pro comps will look short and squatty they are a 65 series trie not a 70
I cant decide on either the Nitto 305 70 17 or the toyo 285 75 17 or if I want to go mud and get the toyo 295 70 17

true they will shorter than than the 305 nitto but that's pretty much the size i'm running now. Maybe I'll wait untill I get some better offset rims and go with the 315's, just can't pass up this buy 1 3 free thing that makes discount so cheap right now. Those extremes do look good though.

"they jack the price up to give you the deal It aint all that "
Actually,
I just went by a tire dealer looking at the Pro Comp tires. Really, jacking the price up was all in the descretion (sp) of the tire dealer. The guy I went to quoted me the price last month (Sep), using the prices for last month in that buy 3 get 1 free deal... So it actually was buy 3 get 1 free... I was actually amazed because I always thought they would jack those prices up as well...

Pro Comp tires are a good deal at buy 3 get 1 free. Heck, I think they are good deal period! I paid just a little over $600 for the four on my truck and after 10,000+ miles still look new. Although I can't see them making it to 30,000 miles because I can't keep my foot off the go pedal! The are the Xtreme A/T's not the mud tires but I have been told the mud don't last quite as long. I think they look awesome on the trucks and when I replace my A/T's I just might get those. I say look around for the best price and tell the place you are buying them from that you can get them cheaper at the other place and most will price match.

nitis,
Yea, it wasn't to start anything. I was just amazed that there was no mark-up, as I also thought happened all the time... Seems they were a good deal, but I did end up with the Cooper STTs instead... They were even a better deal...

Well went ahead and got the 305 nitto's. Glad too they barely rub at full lock on a bumpy corner, but other than that they clear pretty well. They ride a little bit rougher than the 295's but that can be expected with a stiffer side wall tire. All in all they look good and i'm glad I didn't go with the 315 extremes since then I would have to cut the fenders. Waiting for pics to upload and i'll post them.

If its between the two, I'd go with the pro comp muds every time.. the extreme mud terrains are totally SWEET! If you are towing a lot though, I would consider something less aggressive.
